UAE sends urgent medical assistance to Botswana to support a healthy emergency

The UAE has sent an urgent aid plane containing 96 tons of medical supplies to the friendly Republic of Botswana, in support of the health sector after the declaration of public health emergency due to the shortage of drugs and basic medical supplies.
This urgent aid comes within the chain of the leading global humanitarian role that the UAE undertakes towards various societies and peoples to ensure early recovery and achieve stability, as Emirati aid included a package of medicines to treat chronic diseases, in addition to medical supplies such as bandages, strings and necessary surgical supplies.
In this regard, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al -Amri, President of the Emirates Agency for International Aid, said, “Sending medical aid to Botswana comes within the framework of the global humanitarian role of the UAE towards the immediate response to health crises and the promotion of health systems in friendly African countries, and enhancing their capabilities to reduce the spread of epidemics and infectious diseases between individuals and societies.”
His Excellency added, “The Emirati medical assistance will contribute to supporting the stocks of medicines and basic medical supplies for surgeries, and enhancing the capabilities of the health sector to provide medical services for a large segment of the population who depend directly on the government health system, especially the categories of children, women and the elderly.”
