France records continuous record rainfall for the first time in 67 years

The French Meteorological Authority announced on Wednesday that it had recorded the longest series of rainy days in the country since measurements began in 1959, after 35 consecutive days of rain.
The authority explained that the period extends from January 14 to February 17 and witnessed heavy rains that caused floods in several areas. The period may be longer, with more rain expected.
A man was reported missing on Wednesday after his boat capsized in the Loire River, and water levels continue to rise in four departments in western France that have been placed under a red alert, a situation that is feared to worsen with the arrival of Storm Pedro and rising tides.
In addition to France, other European countries are currently facing severe weather and floods, especially Portugal, where the bodies of a sixty-year-old couple were found on Wednesday inside their car in a flooded area.
