"Minister of Economy" The Future of Food Industries Forum opens in Dubai

Dubai, September 23 / WAM / The activities of the seventh session of the Future of Future Industries 2025 forum were launched today in Dubai, under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, which aims to combine global industry leaders, innovators and major stakeholders in order to enhance food security, accelerate innovation and consolidate the role of the UAE as a preferred partner for global trade and investment.

The forum was opened by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, stressing that the forum comes at a pivotal time for the economic diversification strategy of the Emirates, as the government has given the official nature of the national policy of economic complexes earlier this year, and puts the policy new frameworks to enhance the interconnected industries, including food, and is expected to add more than 30 billion dirhams to the national economy.
His Excellency said that the UAE is committed to building a flexible food sector based on innovation and sustainability, and the Future of Food Industries Forum represents a platform that embodies our determination to work with our partners in the Emirates Food, Government, the private sector, and academic circles, to create flexible supply chains and sustainable progress, and through our leadership, we strengthen food security in the Emirates, and we contribute to finding solutions with a global impact.
He pointed out that the UAE is already applying the lessons learned from its first journey for international reference comparison to the leading local food innovation centers, and employed international best practices in making local progress through the Emirates Food Rally.
It highlighted the Center for Food Innovation in the Emirates, which was launched at the “Cup 28” conference, as a major platform that supports flexibility through agricultural technology and partnerships between the government and private sectors.
In light of multiple techniques such as vertical agriculture, water agriculture, and accurate agriculture that reshape the local food system, His Excellency stressed the importance of the UAE’s role in paving the way for a safer and sustainable food future.
He added that the UAE food gathering will remain a model for cooperation, so that the government, the business sector and the academic circles unite to accelerate growth and competitiveness.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Economy established the Emirates Food Group within the framework of the National Food Security Strategy 2051, to become the first dedicated platform to unify the parties concerned in the country through the value chain as a whole.
The gathering has interacted since its launch with more than 700 partners that include more than 500 companies, and set goals for developing the sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product from 30 to 40 billion dirhams by 2028, raising the value of food trade from 25 to 40 billion dirhams, and generating about 20 thousand new jobs, establishing the UAE’s position as a center for global food innovation.
On the sidelines of the current year’s session of the forum, the grouping center launched the designer to link the academic and industrial circles, in addition to the global buyers program, which facilitates the arrival of Emirati producers to international markets.
The first day witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Emirates Emirates Company Ltd. and the Emirates Food Group – the Free Zone, with the aim of cooperating in formulating a comprehensive schedule for the products of the food and beverage sector in the country.
The agreement determines a joint commitment to sorting product data using the global “GS1” standards, allowing the advancement of tracking capabilities, prevention of fraud, and the best management of parallel imports through the information approved for products at entry points.
This initiative will unite the process of identifying the products of all parties concerned, and will integrate with the most important governmental and commercial databases, and will support organizational compliance.
Saleh Lootah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Food Group, said: We provide during the current year of the forum a cooperative platform that enables the most important parties concerned to communicate and sow the seeds of new initiatives and partnerships to launch the next stage of growth, in line with our commitment to enhancing global commercial ties and upgrading food security in the long run, inside and outside the country.
In addition to the main program, the high sessions of the executives showed with His Excellency the Minister, the Board of Intellectual Gammulation, and technical workshops on harmonization of standards, how the forum is a cooperative platform for implementation and strategic compatibility.
