platform "Youth for sustainability" Launching a program "Beyond the border"

Abu Dhabi, September 26/ WAM/ The “Youth for Sustainability” platform, affiliated with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar”, which aims to enable the next generation of sustainability leaders, launched the “Beyond Border” program as an international platform that focuses on transferring knowledge acquisition in the field of sustainability from the semester to practical application with the aim of creating a tangible impact on the ground.

The first session of the program witnessed the organization of a visit to Malaysia, which included ten ambitious and interested young people, as they participated over five days in workshops and field activities and went through practical experiences to enhance communication skills and digital narration.

The event provided the participants, all of whom are members of the “Future Sustainability Leaders” program of the “Youth for Sustainability” platform, the opportunity to gain practical experience added to their theoretical knowledge, enhancing communication between cultures and developing leadership skills.

Participants worked to address realistic challenges in the energy sector, and prepare status studies according to a narrative narrative style that highlights the interconnection between man, policies and technology.

Zainab Al Ali, Director of Awareness Department and Strategic Partners’ Relations at Masdar Company, said that the “Away to the Border – Malaysia” program added a new horizon that would contribute to expanding the scope of the “Youth for Sustainability” initiative and the impact it caused.

She pointed out that this step reflects the importance of the role of the program as a platform that enables young people to participate in drafting policies, stimulating innovation, and leading global efforts to make a qualitative shift in energy systems.

The group included youth from the Emirates, Malaysia, Germany, Egypt, Algeria, Yemen and India, as they visited the most prominent authorities in the energy sector in Malaysia, with the aim of forming a comprehensive image of the process of transforming energy systems in the country.

They also visited the “Nacional Barahda” company, the largest accompanying company in Malaysia, to see the national energy infrastructure and strategies that push the wheel of transformation towards renewable energy.

The members of the program also participated in interactive workshops on comprehensive energy systems at the University of “Nacional”, the leading university in the field of energy in Malaysia, during which they participated in the challenges of design, case studies, and innovation laboratories, where they worked to explore solutions linking local needs and global sustainability goals.

The program concluded with a presentation presented by the participating youth, as they highlighted the results they achieved, in addition to proposing solutions that suit the requirements of the local energy sector, which allowed members of the “Future Sustainability Leaders” the opportunity to provide practical ideas, and emphasize the importance of the role of youth in leading a sustainable positive change in the energy sector.

Nermin El Marzouki, a member of the Programs of the Future of Sustainability and Participation in the “Beyond Borders” program, said that the “Beyond Border – Malaysia” program gave her the opportunity to closely get to know the energy scene in Malaysia, through field visits and interaction with society and benefit from the skill of narratives.

She added that this program embodies the importance of experimental learning and enhancing cooperation between cultures, allowing young people to play an important role in making a qualitative shift in global energy systems.

The impact of the “Beyond Borders – Malaysia” program extends beyond the five days, as the participants will work to implement their acquaintances in projects within their countries, benefit from the communication networks they built, and work to provide innovative solutions, while the “Youth for Sustainability” platform through this program works to enhance partnerships with academic authorities and sectors in the Southeast Asia region, and provide a model that can be expanded and applied in other countries in the future.

The group of participants in the program included Matar Al -Suwaidi, Shaqra Al -Tamimi, Nermin Al -Marzouki, Ahmed Al -Muhairi, Saleh Al -Shamsi, Duaa Al -Alimi, Irvid Leonard Alert, Habib Al -Rahman Hassan, Maria bin Khalifa and Nava Garg.

This group combined technical expertise, policy familiarity with communication skills, with the aim of contributing to a fair and appropriate qualitative shift in the energy sector.
