"Dubai Women and Children Care" and"Body of knowledge" They organize a program to enhance support for children in facing challenges

Dubai, March 12 / WAM / The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, in cooperation with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, organized a program entitled “Children’s Safety and Support in Difficult Times” in conjunction with Emirati Children’s Day, which falls on March 15 of each year, with the aim of enhancing families’ awareness of how to deal with pressures and challenges that may affect children and enabling them to support their children psychologically and enhance their sense of security and stability.

During the program, Ms. Sheikha Al-Awadi, Director of the Foundation’s Youth Care Home, presented to community members during the program cognitive and educational topics that dealt with the psychological dimensions of children’s influence on the atmosphere around them during difficult times. She reviewed how children may pick up feelings of anxiety and changes in the surrounding environment even if they do not realize the details of what is happening, which may be reflected in their feelings and behavior in multiple ways.

She also touched on the most prominent behavioral and psychological indicators that may indicate a child’s feeling of anxiety or stress, such as changes in mood, difficulty sleeping, or increased sensitivity and irritability, stressing the importance of the family being aware of these indicators and noticing them early, so that parents can provide appropriate support to their children.

The lecture highlighted the pivotal role of the family as the primary custodian of a child’s sense of security and stability, noting the importance of adopting healthy communication methods based on listening to children’s feelings, containing them, and providing simplified explanations that help them understand what is going on around them in a way appropriate to their age stages.

Her Excellency Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director General of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, stressed the Foundation’s keenness to empower families and provide them with the knowledge and skills that will help them deal with the psychological and social challenges that children may face, especially in light of the flow of news and information through digital platforms and the accompanying effects on their feelings and sense of security.

Al Mansouri explained that organizing this program comes in response to a growing societal need to support parents in dealing with the impact of circulating news on their children and enhancing their ability to reassure children and create a more stable and inclusive family environment.

For her part, Dr. Amna Al Mazmi, Executive Director of the Development and Human Development Sector at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, said that the pivotal role played by parents is in establishing reassurance and enhancing children’s sense of security, praising the contribution of this initiative in educating parents and society about the best methods and strategies that support children’s growth and psychological well-being, which contributes to enhancing their sense of security and improving their quality of life, in line with the objectives of the Education Strategy 2033.

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness, the Foundation broadcast, through its digital platforms, an awareness bulletin entitled “Reassurance,” which aims to provide positive content that helps community members deal with the influx of news and psychological pressures with awareness and balance.
