150 %growth in the number of nursing cadres in Dubai Health

The Executive Director of Operations at the Dubai Health Foundation, Khalifa Baqir, confirmed to “Emirates Today” that “Dubai Health” has made remarkable progress during the past three years in enhancing Emiratization in the nursing profession, where it recorded 150% growth in the numbers of Emirati nursing cadres, to reach 120 nurses, compared to 48 in 2023.

He added that “Dubai Health” presented during its first participation in the exhibition “Emirates Vision for Jobs 2025” a variety of job opportunities in various specialties within the health system, pointing to the appointment of 25 Emirati nurses, on the first day of the exhibition, in a step that reflects the commitment to enhance the efforts of localizing this profession and attract national competencies to work with it.

The Foundation’s keenness as an integrated academic health system to enhance the attractiveness of this profession for citizens, as the Faculty of Hind Bint Maktoum Nursing and Come at Mohammed Bin Rashid University for Medicine and Health Sciences is a pioneering center for preparing and qualifying national competencies in the nursing profession, by providing comprehensive and varied academic programs that contribute to graduating professional cadres that support the health care system and meet their future needs.

He pointed out that the participation of “Dubai Health” in the exhibition “Emirates Vision for Jobs 2025”, which was recently held, for the first time as the first integrated academic health system in Dubai, is an affirmation of its commitment to enhancing Emiratisation, and enabling national competencies to join promising professional paths in the health sector.

Baqir said that the Foundation presented during its participation in the exhibition a number of job opportunities in specializations, including nursing, genetic pathology, radiology and laboratory techniques, in addition to a number of academic and specialized specializations in various sectors of the health system, to provide them with qualified national cadres.

He stated that “Dubai Health” targeted through its participation in the exhibition, the discovery of young Emirati talents, and opened the way for it to join a health system based on excellence in care, medical education and scientific research, which constitutes a basic pillar of building a sustainable health system that keeps pace with aspirations and supports the achievement of the goals of the “Dubai Social Agency 33”.

He explained that the Foundation organized a number of dialogue sessions and interactive activities, to introduce young people to academic and health paths and employment opportunities, and linking job seekers in the health sector to its practical requirements according to the mechanisms of the labor market. During the exhibition, a number of cooperation agreements, most notably cooperation with Ernst and Yong Middle East and North Africa (EY), also signed, so that the participants obtain an integrated training program, which enables them to develop their skills in the fields of research, project management, and acquire specialized knowledge, as well as identify consulting methodologies according to international best practices, in a way that contributes to improving health care quality through exchanging experiences and practical application.

It also reviewed the summer training program, which provides a practical experience within the first academic health system in Dubai, with the aim of developing the skills of young citizens, identifying institutional work in the health sector, and gaining practical experience that contributes to their rehabilitation to join the health system, as well as enabling them to link their theoretical knowledge to practical reality.
