The UAE announces the results of the prize "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Civil Aviation

Montreal on September 28/WAM/The United Arab Emirates announced the results of the third session of the “Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Civil Aviation Award”, and honoring the winners of the main categories of the award, which amounted to a total value of one million dollars, during the official reception of the state in Montreal, within the usual protocol of the countries participating in the General Assembly of the Eco.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said that the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Civil Aviation Award embodies the UAE commitment to support research and innovation, and stimulate young minds and research authorities to find practical and sustainable solutions that serve the future of global civil aviation.
His Excellency Saif Mohamed Al -Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation said, “We are proud to organize this ceremony to be a platform to honor the creators and present their achievements to global aviation leaders. The award is an extension of the pioneering role of the UAE in supporting the aviation industry and enhancing its position as an incubator for the initiatives that inspire the world and supports the process of sustainability.”
The winners of the first three places in the research and development category for academic institutions came from universities in Brazil, the United States of America and Kazakhstan, while the award won the research and development category for research institutions, the German Space Center in Germany.
The award was launched in 2016, and it is organized every three years, and the third session of the award was organized in cooperation with the ICAO, where this session focused on research and development in the areas of sustainability, especially the development of sustainable fuel solutions for aviation, in line with the efforts of the international community to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and reflects the role of the UAE in innovation and international cooperation.
Yesterday, the United Arab Emirates witnessed a prominent presence during the work of the forty -second session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), through an official speech delivered by the Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, during the main session of the meetings.
His Excellency stressed in the state’s speech that aviation is not just a means of transmission, but rather a bridge of human communication and a symbol of openness to the world.
He added that the UAE, with the vision and directives of its rational leadership, made flying a pillar for its national vision and global mission, as its airspace opened through 189 air service agreements, more than 80% of them are completely liberated, believing that air openness is the basis of joint prosperity.
He stated that the state has taken advanced steps in the field of sustainability by setting a road map to produce sustainable fuel for aircraft, and developing several initiatives, including launching a digital platform to implement carbon compensation plan and reduce it in the field of international aviation “Corsia” in the country, as well as organizing the global global aviation market.
He added, the UAE believes that progress in aviation is not completed unless everyone includes, as well as sustainability is only achieved by investing in people, and to achieve this, the state was keen to adopt many advisory initiatives to develop human competencies and encourage them to enter this vital sector in cooperation with its international partners.
Ibn Touq said that the UAE has opened its doors repeatedly to host the world, to be a meeting place for partners and a supportive voice for international rapprochement, a bridge between the regions, a reliable ally and a constructive partner.
On the same evening, the state presented a festive evening that brought together the official and artistic nature, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, His Excellency Saif Muhammad Al -Suwaidi, and a large number of ministers and directors of the general transport and civil aviation from various countries of the world members of the organization, as well as officials from regional and international aviation organizations participating in the meetings of the General Assembly of the Eco.
