A remarkable increase in food commodity discounts at sales outlets

Consumers told «Emirates Today» that the sales outlets are witnessing a remarkable and remarkable increase in reduced food commodities during the current period, unlike previous periods that were witnessing very limited discounts on food commodities, with more focus on non -food consumer goods.
They explained, at the same time, that the rates of discounts on food commodities are still few, compared to non -nutritional consumer goods, demanding an increase in these proportions, especially on basic food commodities.
The cuts in the sales outlets included varieties of meat, fresh poultry, table eggs, as well as fresh and long -term milk, and flour.
For their part, two officials of the sale of two outlets said that the prices of many food commodities were witnessing great fluctuation, and they tend to rise in previous periods, given some emergency global conditions associated with supply chains, which affected the rates of discounts on them in previous periods.
And they attributed the ratio of low discounts on food commodities, compared to their consumer counterpart, to the fact that the profit margin in food commodities in general, especially on the basic commodities that prevent their prices, only with official approval, unlike consumer goods whose prices are affected by market factors and competition, and expected that the coming periods will witness good offers on many food commodities.
Meat and poultry
In detail, the consumer, Maryam Al -Ansari, told «Emirates Today»: “I found a noticeable increase in the discounts of food commodities during the current period, unlike previous periods in which the cuts were concentrated on non -food consumer goods. Consumers.
Al -Ansari drew attention to the expansion of the offers of discounts on meat, although it is limited to some of the outlets and some types of meat, not all of them.
She explained: «The offering of a selling outlet is offered a bi -meat cubes, to decrease the price of 33.5 dirhams per kilogram to 29 dirhams, with a reduction rate of 13.4%, and another sale outlet was offered an offer on Indian wheelwar, without bone, to decrease the price from 35.90 dirhams per kilogram to 31.50 dirhams, a reduction of 12.2%.
And she continued: «The outlet of sale was also offered a offer on a fresh chicken thighs packaging (500 grams), to decrease the price of 13.50 dirhams to 12.20 dirhams, with a discount rate of 9.6%, and the sales port offered the same, an offer on a package containing two chickens with one kilogram, to decrease the price from 27 dirhams to 25.50 dirhams, with a reduction of 5.5%.
She also drew attention to an offer at another outlet on the price of a chicken breast package (800 g), to decrease the price from 22.90 dirhams to 21.90 dirhams, with a discount rate of 4.4%, and offered a package with a weight of 900 grams of another brand for fresh chicken, to decrease the price from 27.50 dirhams to 22 dirhams, with a discount of 20%.
Table eggs
For his part, the consumer, Samir Farraj, confirmed that there is a noticeable increase in discount offers on food commodities in some sales outlets during the current period, including some basic commodities, unlike previous periods.
He said: “Some sales outlets began to witness discounts on some brands for table eggs, for the first time in a long time, although the rates of discounts are mostly small.”
He explained: «The offering of a sale is offered by a local brand for table eggs, so that the price of a large egg dish (30 eggs) decreased from 22.90 dirhams to 19.95 dirhams, with a discount of 12.8%, and the same sales port also proposed, an offer on a local organic dish, to decrease the price from 62.50 dirhams to 55.50 dirhams, with a discount of 11.2% (30 medium eggs), and its price drops from 21.90 dirhams to 18.90 dirhams, with a discount of 13.7%».
Farraj called for the inclusion of discounts on table eggs, other types, in addition to increasing the discount rates that are few, compared to the rates of discounts on non -food consumer goods that sometimes exceed 50%, indicating that food commodities occupy a priority in the daily purchases of families.
Milk and flour
In the same context, the consumer, Reda Al -Samadi, agreed that the discounts of many food commodities, including some basic, witnessed a noticeable increase, calling for an increase in the rates of discounts so that the offers are more feasible and effective, especially that they are more important for consumers than non -nutritional consumer goods.
He said: «The offering of a sale is offered by four full -term milk packages (one liter volume for the package), so that the price decreases from 17.20 dirhams to 15.50 dirhams, with a discount of 9.8%, and the sales port also launched a offer on a full -fat milk package (liter) to decrease the price from 12.10 dirhams to 10.95 dirhams, with a reduction of 9.5% A full -fat milk package (one liter) to decrease the price from 6.65 dirhams to 5.75 dirhams, with a discount of 13.5%».
He pointed out that the sales outlets were offered a reduction on a brand of flour (a five kilogram bag), so that the price decreases from 23 dirhams to 19.80 dirhams, a decrease of 13.9%, and another sale outlet was reduced by a type of flour by the same weight from 24.50 dirhams to 21 dirhams, a reduction rate of 14.2%.

In addition, the official in one of the sales outlets, Rajif Tamara, told «Emirates Today»: “The prices of many food commodities were witnessing great fluctuation, and tend to rise during previous periods, given some unusual global circumstances, and problems in supply chains, which prevented discounts on many commodities.”
Tamara expected that the coming periods will witness good offers on many food commodities, after the improvement of supply chains, and some geopolitical conditions decreased in some areas.
For his part, the official in another sale, Hassan Rizk, said: “The rates of discounts in food commodities are few, compared to non -food consumer goods, given that the profit margin is small in food commodities, especially the basic ones.
He stressed that some food commodities that include many brands, whether local or imported, are witnessing more discounts than that are few brands, such as oils and rice, given the competition factor.
Food profit ratio
Retail expert, the head of the Al -Bahr Consulting Company, Ibrahim Al -Bahr, called on the sales outlets to increase the discounts on food commodities as much as possible, given their importance to consumers in the first place, and occupy their priority upon purchase, in order to gain consumer confidence and increase sales.
He stressed that the percentage of profit on food in general, especially the basic, is few, and may not exceed 10% in many of them, unlike consumer goods, which exceed the profit rate in some of them 30%.
He pointed out that the sales outlets do not care in most cases by making concrete discounts unless the demand for a commodity is weak, in order to increase its sales, while sales of many food commodities are high in general, because of the high demand for them, as it cannot be dispensed with.
He continued: «The sales outlets are intensified by discounts on food commodities during the summer, due to the travel of a large number of families, and thus their weak sales, which does not happen in most of the year.
