"Seal Astronomical Observatory" He succeeds in photographing a nebula "Scary man"

Abu Dhabi, February 27 / WAM / The Seal Astronomical Observatory located in the Abu Dhabi desert succeeded in photographing the “Boogeyman Nebula – LDN 1622” from the sky of the UAE after work that took a full month.

The “Scary Man” nebula is a cosmic gas and dust, and it was given this name due to the appearance of a formation in the lower left part of the image that appears in the form of a man resembling the legendary “Boogeyman” character in some Western cultures, which is used in folk tales and is equivalent in Arabic to “the bogeyman.”

This nebula is located within the Orion cluster, approximately 1,500 light-years from planet Earth, where it is classified as a dark nebula that shines against a glowing background of red hydrogen gas, which is part of the “Barnard Ring,” in a cosmic scene that combines darkness and light in the depths of space.

The “Scary Man” nebula appears in this way as a result of the high density of gas and dust inside it, as it works to block the light coming from behind, making it appear as a dark, opaque cloud in space.

On the right side of the “Scary Man’s” head appears a small reflection nebula known as “vdB 62”, which can be seen because it reflects the light of a star located inside it and bearing the number “HD 288313”. The nebula’s clouds appear illuminated thanks to the reflection of the light of that star.
