Yara Sabry, within the jury of the Sharjah Film Festival for Children and Youth

The Organizing Committee of the “Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth” chose the artist Yara Sabry as a member of the jury of the short Arab feature films category, in the twelfth festival session, which will be held between the sixth and the eleventh of next October, and organized by the “Art Foundation” in the “Fox Cinema” in the bright “City Center”, with the participation of 76 films, from 26 countries.

The festival will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Family and Society Council. The “festival” aims to provide an innovative platform, which brings together filmmakers and creators from around the world, celebrating them, and enabling them to display their cinematic works in front of various segments of society.

South Korea is “guest of honor” this year’s session, as the “festival” witnesses the participation of films from Saudi Arabia, France, Iran, Indonesia, Bahrain, Russia, India, the Netherlands, Sao Tommy, Bersep, Ecuador, and Billis. Events will provide the audience with the opportunity to discover the deep human cinema and distinctive stories of Korean cinema, in addition to knowing its history, philosophy and its ability to overcome the limits of language and culture; To become a major supporter of the creative economy in South Korea thanks to its remarkable presence in the various international cinema festivals, and winning the “Oscars” in the best foreign movie. These films also contributed to strengthening their soft power and the tourism sector in it.

Within the activities of the festival, the “Green Carpet” hosts three films that are shown for the first time in the Middle East, which are the Dutch film “Miss Moxi” by directors Web Vernwoy and Humanat Pal. It deals with the story of a pet that spends its summer vacation in southern Europe, but it loses the way back to its home; To start the journey to search for it with the help of a comic dog, and an old wise bird, which gives it the opportunity to discover the true meaning of friendship. The Korean film is “an innocent childhood” by director Serong Jong, and it revolves around a 10 -year -old girl, who meets another 15 -minute child, isolated from the world, so the two discover the importance of human warmth, and his ability to break the barriers between people. And the Saudi film “Hegery” by the director Sarah Talib, and its events revolve in Jeddah, during the 1960s, about a young musician whose life turns upside down after suffering a disease that lost his hearing during his childhood, and over time he discovers the strength of hope and love.

In addition to the Syrian actress Yara Sabry, the jury of the festival films includes: Emirati journalist Mohammed Rashid Al Salami, Kuwaiti director Dawood Suleiman Al Shuail, Korean director Jay Hoon Anne, Korean director Warram Lee, Korean film critic Sang Yong Lee, Omani director Salah Al -Hadrami, and animation director Enas Yaqoub, Bahraini critic Tariq Al -Bahr Iraqi cinematographer Irfan Rashid.
