World leaders highlight strategic charitable work as an international aid engine

In cooperation with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE Foreign Minister for Business and Charitable Action, the International Institute for Peace, in cooperation with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs for the UAE Foreign Affairs and Charitable Action, organized a meeting that brought together international leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week in New York, within the framework of the series “World Leaders” presented by the institute entitled Vision from the book “Good Work as a Business System”. During this meeting, the participants called for an urgent and common movement that guarantees greater effectiveness of international aid efforts and contributes to expanding its impact globally.

The Effective Institute at the Tregfah Lee Center hosted the opposite of the United Nations headquarters in New York, with a live broadcast of the public around the world. The event included words and visions presented by Badr Jaafar, the Special Envoy of the Emirates for Business and Charitable Action, during a dialogue session moderated by Zaid Raad Al -Hussein, President of the International Peace Institute, with the participation of the leading charitable work of Ziti Masonica (the Hyirif “founder and” Delta Villanthrobes “) and Jacqueline Novuzrats (Aquamin”).

In his speech, Badr Jaafar, through his book “Work of Good as a business system: visions and ideas from international leaders on how to change the world”, reviewed a set of lessons and experiences, stressing the unique role played by strategic charitable work in providing stimulating financing, and at the same time establishing bridges between the complex relations that link governments, civil society and the business sector.

Badr Jaafar stated: “The charitable work is capable, and even must play a much deeper role as the link that combines political will and innovation in the business sector, in order to cause the double impact that is intensified to face many common existential challenges. Since it is more tolerant of risks, more patience, and more just compared to other capital forms, charitable work is prepared to become an basic power Increasingly important in the coming years. “

These messages came at a time when traditional funding for humanitarian and development aid faces increasing pressure, as the event highlighted the position that charitable capital occupies today as a tool capable of making radical social changes. Global charitable flows have exceeded a trillion dollars annually, which is three times more than total humanitarian and development aid, and more than ten times the volume of climate financing provided by the developed countries of developing economies in recent years. In the United States alone, the volume of charitable work was estimated at about $ 600 billion in 2024, equivalent to nearly ten times the highest annual financing levels provided by the United States Agency for International Development.

Speakers also dealt with opportunities to redirect private aid in a more strategic way, stressing that merging charitable work with investment capital is able to reduce the risks associated with subsequent investments, and to open wider horizons to reach global networks and larger financing sources. They also stressed the importance of highlighting the interconnection between the geographical areas and the various sectors to provide long -term solutions, while stressing the advanced position occupied by the UAE as a global center for business and charitable work, a reliable partner, a university platform, an active destination in implementation.

On the other hand, new models of giving, cooperation and measurement were highlighted as basic pillars for the release of innovation and the expansion of solutions. The examinations included how to use technology to enable local communities affected to participate in the common design of solutions, develop multilateral collective giving models, and enhance confidence networks. The participants also unanimously agreed on the importance of investing in the infrastructure of charitable work, pushing the wheel of research through academic partnerships, and organizing cooperation between sectors through institutions such as the “International Peace Institute”, as well as enabling the next generation of social innovators through training and guidance programs, which opens the way for building a more comprehensive and flexible future.
