Sheikha Shamma presented a paper entitled “From Twitter to Change” in which she called on young people to transform their digital presence into a tangible development and environmental impact and said: We meet and in front of us a fateful question, which is a future we leave for our youth? She explained that history has changed the youth is no longer a silent audience. Rather, the act and the engine have become indicative that the digital platforms have become the central nerve of the movements of resisting climate and environmental changes in the world and that a small tweet is able to change a path, and a short publication capable of launching a campaign and video that makes a public awareness.
She said that the awareness of youth today opens wide areas of renewable energy, smart agriculture, recycling and environmental technical innovations, and thus awareness turns into investment and investment into development and development into a safer future.
Her Highness presented examples from the initiatives of the institutions of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan, cultural and educational, and sent a message to the youth, saying: Do not underestimate the power of your voices, do not underestimate the strength of your digital existence to support environmental and climate issues, planted ideas in minds before you planted trees on the ground, turned your tweets into bridges.
