"Sharjah International Libraries Conference" Launches November 8

Sharjah, 7 October / WAM / The “Sharjah Expo Center” will host the activities of the 12th session of the Sharjah International Library Conference during the period from 8 to 10 next November, in partnership with the American Library Association.
The conference brings together library experts and academics from various countries who open a broad discussion about the future of libraries in the digital age and propose specialized tracks on policy and legislative issues and their role as incubators of knowledge and sustainable community development.
The Sharjah Book Authority invited librarians, researchers, and those interested in the knowledge sector to participate in the conference and benefit from its various programs that bring together an elite group of international speakers and experts in specialized sessions and workshops.
The conference provides participants with a platform to communicate with the global library community and learn about the latest services and technologies through an exhibition hall dedicated to libraries, in addition to meetings with exhibitors and professional suppliers, in addition to offering specialized programs in developing content and services to reflect Sharjah’s position in the global cultural dialogue.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, made knowledge a pillar of the emirate’s cultural project to establish a timeless vision that placed Sharjah at the heart of the global cultural map. Today, under the leadership and follow-up of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Authority’s Board of Directors, we move towards transforming this vision into initiatives and conferences that reshape The role of libraries as effective institutions in building community awareness and promoting sustainable development.
Al Ameri added that libraries have been and continue to be, throughout the ages, engines of innovation and laboratories for producing ideas that change the paths of nations. Hence, the Sharjah International Library Conference gains its importance, as it is not limited to following up on the ongoing transformations in knowledge management, but rather opens the way for developing new policies and legislation and enhances the integration of international efforts to make libraries living spaces for dialogue, centers for progress and innovation, and beacons that illuminate the paths of the future.
In turn, Mansour Al-Hassani, General Coordinator of Professional Conferences at the Sharjah Book Authority, said that the Sharjah International Library Conference is an exceptional station not only for librarians and specialists, but for everyone who believes that the future of knowledge depends on our ability to develop its tools and institutions.
