The launch of the 13th Global Forum for Sustainability and Social Responsibility in Dubai

Dubai, 8 October / WAM / The 13th Global Forum for Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility was launched today in Dubai, organized by the Arab Network for Corporate Social Responsibility under the slogan “Sustainable Growth: Leading Global Change”, under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, and with the participation of ministers, officials from the United Nations, business leaders, academic experts, and youth from various countries of the world.
The two-day forum began with a main session in which a group of leaders and decision-makers participated, during which His Excellency Dr. Engineer Sigit Reli Yantoro, Deputy Minister of Environmental Governance and Sustainable Natural Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered a speech in which he focused on the importance of integration between government policies and green investments to achieve sustainable development.
He praised the UAE’s pioneering role in consolidating the concepts of the green economy, and valued its institutional initiatives such as the Arab Social Responsibility Network and “Majara”, affiliated with the Social Responsibility Fund, which represents a global model for unifying efforts in supporting sustainable development goals.
Her Excellency Berunger Boel, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in the UAE, touched on the pioneering role that the country plays in leading international efforts towards achieving global sustainability goals.
While Sarah Shaw, CEO of the Social Responsibility Fund “Majari”, discussed the role of community initiatives in enhancing the positive impact of companies and achieving a balance between economic growth and environmental responsibility.
The first day also witnessed a special dialogue session with Her Excellency Dr. Amina Gharib, the Sixth President of the Republic of Mauritius, a specialist in the field of biodiversity, who presented inspiring insights about the relationship between nature and development, stressing that conscious leadership and scientific knowledge represent the basis for confronting climate challenges and protecting the planet.
The first session, entitled “From Waste to Viability: Developing a Renewable Model,” discussed ways to integrate the circular economy into modern industries.
While the second session, entitled “From the Farm Directly to the Home,” discussed food security solutions and agricultural innovation in the face of climate change.
The third session, entitled “Transforming Course: Effective Cross-Border Cooperation,” focused on regional partnerships in water management and sustainable technologies.
The first day concluded with an interactive youth dialogue entitled “The Power of Youth: To Inspire Minds in a World Full of Changes,” during which participants expressed their vision of the role of the new generation in leading a more sustainable and innovative future.
Habiba Al Marashi, founder and CEO of the Arab Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, confirmed in a statement to “WAM” that the current session was characterized by the expansion of global participation and the focus on discussing lessons, experiences and challenges related to sustainable transformation, through interactive sessions that addressed issues of climate change, waste management as energy resources, food security, the green economy, and sustainable finance. and sustainable urban cities.
She explained that the forum allocates an important space for Emirati youth and entrepreneurs to showcase their experiences in the fields of innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship, noting the presentation of successful models that embody the spirit of initiative and environmental and social responsibility in their projects.
Al-Marashi stressed that the forum has become a global platform for uniting efforts for change, noting that the ideas and visions it addresses represent practical plans for the future and a call for coordinated collective action, noting that sustainable growth requires integration between governments, the private sector, academia, and civil society to build a future based on flexibility and prosperity.
