The Saudi national team achieved a valuable victory over its Indonesian counterpart by three to two goals, taking a step closer to reaching the 2026 World Cup finals, during the confrontation that brought them together today, at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, at the opening of the matches of the second group of the “Asian Flyer”. The fourth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The result of the confrontation was opened in the 11th minute by a penalty kick for the Indonesian team, executed by Kevin Dix, while the Saudi team scored a quick equalizer in the 17th minute by Saleh Abu Al-Shamat, and in the 35th minute, the Saudi team took the lead from a penalty kick executed by Firas Al-Braikan, ending the first half with a lead. The Saudi team was able to score the second goal with two goals to one.
In the second half, the Saudi team was able to strengthen its lead with a third goal scored by Firas Al-Braikan in the 61st minute, while the Indonesian team was able to score the second goal from a penalty kick in the 88th minute, executed by Kevin Dicks.
In the next confrontation, the Indonesian team will meet its Iraqi counterpart next Saturday at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, while the Saudi team will face its counterpart. Iraqi next Tuesday, to search for a ticket to reach the 2026 World Cup finals.
