"Dubai Financial Services" The Hong Kong Monetary Authority will host the Climate Finance Conference next November

DUBAI, 9th October, 2018 (WAM) — The Dubai Financial Services Authority, the independent regulator of the Dubai International Financial Centre, in partnership with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, today announced the organization of the second session of the Joint Climate Finance Conference in Dubai on November 26th.
The conference, which aims to support and enable climate finance in the Middle East and Asia, is held under the slogan “Shaping Tomorrow: Harnessing Green Finance to Achieve Sustainable Development,” and embodies the joint commitment of Dubai and Hong Kong, as two of the most prominent and influential financial centers in the world, in shaping the future of the global financial system by embracing innovation and enhancing flexibility and cross-border cooperation.

Eddie Yeo, CEO of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, said that the joint climate finance conference with the Dubai Financial Services Authority is another important step towards strengthening the economic corridor between Asia and the Middle East to facilitate the flow of capital and exchange of knowledge in order to support sustainable development in our region and around the world, and to benefit from the essential role of both Hong Kong and Dubai as two leading centers for financial business and innovation.
The conference will feature a panel discussion between Mark Steward and Darryl Chan, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, examining how technological innovation, regulatory frameworks and cross-sector collaboration can unleash the full potential of climate finance.
Prominent speakers will also participate in discussion sessions on various topics, such as opportunities to transform the corridor between Asia and the Middle East into a green corridor, and the power of coding in driving climate change.
The conference will also include a detailed presentation of the outcomes of joint research between the Dubai Financial Services Authority and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority on the role of sustainable debt in expanding the scope of climate financing in emerging markets.
