"French Committee of the International Federation" Showcasing its environmental efforts during"Nature Conservation Conference"

ABU DHABI, 10 October / WAM / The French Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is participating in the “World Conservation Congress 2025” in Abu Dhabi, and is working to promote civil society initiatives in protecting nature, opening horizons for cooperation with international partners, and exchanging experiences in various fields of environmental conservation.
Benjamin Kuhnert, Deputy Director of the French Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the committee works with the French community concerned with nature conservation by applying the IUCN model at the national level, noting that the committee has the same structures and committees that exist at the international level, with a focus on a national scale to meet local needs.
He added that the committee’s activities include managing protected areas, preparing the Red List of threatened species, and developing nature-based solutions, in addition to many other initiatives for which the International Union for Conservation of Nature is famous, explaining that the presence of the committee in Abu Dhabi also aims to promote its activities and projects and expand opportunities for cooperation with international partners in the field of environmental conservation.
He pointed out that one of the concepts that the committee seeks to promote in the future is the concept of “libre Évolution,” which gives environmental processes the freedom to spontaneously express themselves without human intervention, stressing that an event will be organized on this topic at the conference, with the hope that this approach will turn into an international standard in protecting nature.
He pointed out that the coming days at the conference will witness the organization of 10 sessions covering various topics, including protected areas, nature-based solutions, and species protection, in addition to the concept of “One Health,” which is of increasing interest within the Union, in addition to joint activities with French companies to support their strategies for protecting biodiversity.
Kuhnert stressed the importance of the role of civil society, noting that civil societies are able to unite their efforts, as is the case in Abu Dhabi, in order to protect nature, and that they have great power that can push countries to accelerate their efforts in the field of environmental conservation, despite the current global challenges.
