"Energy and infrastructure" It is organizing a strategic retreat to shape the features of its future vision 2027-2029

DUBAI, 13 October / WAM / His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, chaired the strategic retreat work organized by the Ministry in the Emirate of Dubai with the aim of formulating the strategic plan for the sixth session of the Ministry for the period 2027-2029 and drawing the features of future trends in the fields of energy, petroleum, mining, water, dams, roads, transportation, government buildings and facilities, in addition to housing.
The retreat aimed to enhance national integration between vital sectors, by supporting the adoption of technology and artificial intelligence, and consolidating the country’s attractiveness for investment in the fields of energy and infrastructure, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership and the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision towards comprehensive and sustainable development that puts people at the heart of national priorities.
His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei stressed that the strategic retreat represents a pivotal station for unifying visions and consolidating the culture of integrated institutional work, indicating that the next stage requires a more flexible and innovative approach to strategic planning, which enhances the Ministry’s readiness for the future, and consolidates its position as a leading federal institution that contributes to achieving the goals of “We Are the Emirates 2031.”
He explained that the formulation of the new plan comes at a stage in which the UAE is witnessing rapid growth and comprehensive development in various fields, which requires the adoption of innovative projects that enhance the efficiency of institutional performance, consolidate governance, and support the sustainability of development in the energy, infrastructure, transportation, and housing sectors, in line with the country’s ambitions towards global leadership in the fields of sustainable development, green economy, and smart infrastructure.
He said that the new strategy will focus on transforming ideas into realistic work programs and implementation projects that enhance the country’s competitiveness and establish its regional and global leadership, stressing that the ministry will continue its path in developing the energy system according to an integrated approach that enhances diversification of its sources and supports the national trend towards climate neutrality, in addition to developing a flexible and smart infrastructure capable of accommodating population and economic growth.

His Excellency pointed to consolidating the UAE’s position as a global model in resource efficiency and sustainable development, enhancing the security and sustainability of energy and water, and developing an integrated, smart and sustainable infrastructure that meets housing needs and ensures the sustainability of financing.
The retreat witnessed a series of specialized sessions and presentations that presented qualitative visions that support the Ministry’s future directions, the most prominent of which was a presentation by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Qasim, Dean of the Dubai Future Academy, in which he addressed the role of artificial intelligence in developing the government work system and anticipating the future, highlighting the opportunities for employing modern technologies to improve the quality of services and enhance the efficiency of institutional performance.
His Excellency Haitham Al-Rayes, Deputy Head of Strategy in the Prime Minister’s Office, also reviewed the new directions for strategic planning in the federal government and the mechanism of transition from strategic planning to strategic intelligence, in light of the rapid changes the world is witnessing that require government agencies to keep pace with them.
For her part, Laila Al Balushi, Director of the Strategy and Future Department at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, gave a comprehensive presentation on the achievements that were achieved during the current strategic cycle, in addition to the targeted objectives within the Ministry’s new strategic plan 2027-2029, where she reviewed the most prominent axes and objectives on which the plan is based and the mechanisms for aligning them with the objectives of the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision.
The retreat also witnessed extensive discussions that addressed the most prominent strategic axes that will form the general framework of the Ministry’s work in the coming years. The discussions focused on enhancing and accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital twinning in planning and implementation processes, in addition to developing institutional performance, improving resource efficiency, and raising levels of transparency and accountability, in line with the aspirations of the UAE government to build agile and effective institutions. Able to respond quickly to challenges and anticipate future changes.
A number of future strategic projects were also reviewed that support the Ministry’s orientations towards global leadership in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transportation and housing, and achieving the goals of the “We are the Emirates 2031” vision.
During the retreat, His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure honored His Excellency Engineer Hassan Mohammed Jumaa Al Mansouri with the Ministry’s Pride Medal, in recognition of his sincere efforts and distinguished contributions to developing the infrastructure and transportation affairs sector and enhancing the efficiency of government work, in addition to honoring the work teams of the first, second, and third transformational projects in appreciation of their efforts in implementing qualitative initiatives that supported the Ministry’s future directions.
The retreat concluded with the development of a comprehensive vision for a group of future transformational and strategic projects that represent the executive pillars of the Ministry’s strategic plan 2027-2029. The discussions included developing specific programs, in addition to consolidating the concepts of innovation and institutional creativity in the work environment.
