The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Identity and Citizenship launch consular services for holders of golden residency, the first of its kind in the world.

The 45th edition of the GITEX Global 2025 exhibition witnessed the launch of a set of consular services designated for holders of golden residency, in an initiative considered the first of its kind in the world, in joint cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, and Customs and Port Security. The announcement of this new package of services came with the participation and presence of Omar Obaid Al-Hussan Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, in addition to the presence of a number of officials and employees of both agencies and visitors to this global technical event.
This cooperation comes in line with the announcement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” designating the year 2025 as the “Year of Community” in the UAE under the slogan “Hand in Hand,” in a national initiative that embodies the leadership’s vision towards building a cohesive and prosperous society. It also embodies the integration between government agencies towards developing integrated and innovative services that enhance the efficiency of government performance and consolidate the UAE’s leadership as an attractive environment that attracts competencies, investors, innovators and distinguished talents, and enables them to contribute effectively in its journey towards achieving renaissance and comprehensive development.
On this occasion, Omar Obaid Al-Hussan Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the launch of the consular services package designated for holders of golden residency comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership aimed at consolidating the UAE’s position as one of the best countries in the world in the field of global talent competition, noting that the strategic cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, contributes to the development of an integrated system of services. Directed to holders of golden residency, facilitating their lives and providing support and care to them, whether inside or outside the UAE, in a way that enhances its efforts to attract and attract distinguished talents as a global destination for investment and innovation.
For his part, Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili explained that the launch of these services represents a qualitative step that enhances the integration between state institutions in the service of humanity, explaining that the Authority is working in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop smart and innovative solutions that meet the needs of golden residency holders, adding that these services come as a translation of the directives of the wise leadership in empowering distinguished residents and providing a sustainable and safe environment that reflects the UAE’s values of humanity and giving. And leadership.
The new consular services for golden residency holders, which include accompanying family members, include issuing a return document in the event of loss or damage of the passport while they are outside the country. It also includes providing a hotline for this category to provide the necessary support and answer inquiries via the number 0097124931133, in addition to rapid response in cases of emergencies and crises while they are abroad, through the call center at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which works around the clock to ensure the provision of immediate assistance when needed.
As an extension of the UAE’s humanitarian approach, the scope of support and assistance services in crises, emergencies and evacuations provided to the country’s citizens abroad has been expanded. It includes golden residency holders, to enhance their protection and care in various circumstances. Services also include organizing procedures for transporting the body of a golden residency holder in the event of his death outside the country, in coordination with the relevant health and official authorities, with the aim of facilitating and accelerating transactions, providing the necessary support, and alleviating the burdens on the family of the deceased.
