De Jong renews his contract with Barcelona until 2029

Dutch midfielder Frankie de Jong has renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2029, according to what the Catalan club announced on social media yesterday.

The Dutch international (28 years old) joined the ranks of the Catalan giant in 2019, coming from Ajax Amsterdam, and won the Spanish League title twice and the Spanish Cup twice.

De Jong suffered a decline in his level at times, but he became a key player in the midfield under the leadership of German coach, Hansi Flick, last season. De Jong joined Barcelona under former president Josep Maria Bartomeu, and is one of the highest-paid players at the club.
