The start of the final competitions for the title of Community Champion in the Arab Reading Challenge 2025

DUBAI, 21st October, 2017 (WAM) – The final qualifiers for the Communities category in the ninth session of the Arab Reading Challenge, the largest reading event of its kind in the Arabic language in the world, began in Dubai today, to determine the top three place holders in this category. The champion of the Communities category will be announced during the closing ceremony of the ninth session, which is hosted by the Dubai World Trade Center on October 23rd.
The male and female students who compete in the final qualifiers in the Communities category succeeded in passing several stages throughout the ninth session, while during the final stage that takes place in Dubai, the participants undergo an oral test to determine their special skills, where the competitors present in fluent Arabic the most prominent ideas and main points that they were inspired by from the 25 books they read and read.
The jury works to measure their reading score as a whole, and their ability to express it in their own style, as it requires the student to demonstrate distinctive abilities in discussion, criticism, analysis, and linking different ideas and concepts, in addition to having self-confidence and mastery of performance.
The creation of the Communities category came with the conclusion of the second session of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative and the launch of its third session, which opened the door to participation for male and female students from outside Arab countries, learners of the Arabic language, and speakers of other languages.
His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, confirmed that the Arab Reading Challenge initiative continues to record qualitative achievements in terms of spread in the Arab world and the world, and the positive impact on the Arab educational and cultural reality, and enhancing the status of the Arabic language in a way that embodies the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” by focusing on The cognitive dimension in preparing new generations, and raising the importance of reading as the best way to build minds and hone talents and abilities.
His Excellency pointed to the vital role that members of the communities play in preserving the Arabic language and introducing Arab culture in their countries of residence, through their great interaction with the Arab Reading Challenge initiative, their commitment to working to achieve its mission and goals, and their insistence on annual participation in its competitions.
The ninth session of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative, which falls under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, witnessed record participation reaching more than 32 million students from 50 countries, representing 132,112 schools, and under the supervision of 161,004 male and female supervisors.
Competing in the final qualifiers for the diaspora category are the students: Tuqa Ahmed Hashem Sayed Abdel Khaleq from Australia, Baraa Radwan Al-Zaim (Brazil), Jannat Arkan Muhammad Al-Rumaima (China), Masa Al-Khatib (Germany), Nawar Mawwad (Norway), Lilia Burhan (Austria), Razan Hassan Al-Masry (United States of America), Mirna Ahmed Shams Al-Din Muhammad (Greece), and Jihad. Muhammad Hussein Fayed Murad (Italy), Najm Al-Din Rashid Nehme (England), Joud Naddaf (Belgium), Norseen Charafi (Turkey), Qasim Ahmed Qasim Nail (Scotland), Alma Al-Muati (Switzerland), Tahsin Youssef Tahseen Al-Droubi (Finland), Abdul Rahman Mahmoud Badr (Canada), Tim Al-Alawi (Luxembourg), and Ibtisam Al-Razzuq Adeeb (Malaysia), Yara Musa Eid (New Zealand), Zaid Sarhan (France), Raghad Mohamed Ziad Dodi (Netherlands), Mohamed Mavungal (India), Sundos Al Hindi (Ireland), Maria Naqawa (Sweden), Maryam Omar Adeeb (Denmark), and Rahmat Anchoori (Indonesia).
The golden record of community champions in the past six rounds includes Tasneem Eidi from France, champion of the third round, Mahmoud Bilal from Sweden (fourth round), Alexander Voros from Italy (fifth round), Nada Al-Satri from Belgium (sixth round), Muhammad Abdul Raqeeb Ali Ahmed Al-Kawkabani from Malaysia (seventh round), and Muhammad Al-Rifai from Sweden (eighth round).
The Arab Reading Challenge, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him” in 2015, as the largest reading competition and project in the world, aims to enhance the importance of reading among participating students at the level of the Arab world and the world, develop mechanisms for comprehension and self-expression in a sound Arabic language, endear Arab youth to the Arabic language, encourage them to use it in their daily dealings, and open the door to the educational field. And parents in the Arab world to play a pivotal role in changing the reality of reading and instilling a love for it in new generations.
