المملكة: With 6,000 safe operations, “Jami’ Al-Khobar” corrects misconceptions about anesthesiology

Dr. Ammar Al-Omran, Head of the Anesthesia Department and Director of Operations at the hospital, explained that the event aims primarily to correct common misconceptions about anesthesiology.

He stressed that this specialty, thanks to technical and scientific progress, is today considered one of the most advanced and safest medical specialties, stressing that the prevailing belief that anesthesia is a dangerous procedure is no longer true.

Al-Omran stated that the operations performed varied between 75% as scheduled operations and 25% as emergency operations, stressing that achieving high safety rates reflects the quality of the services provided and the vital role played by the anesthesia team to ensure the safety of patients before, during and after surgical operations.

The most prominent of which is the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Treatment, which introduced visitors to methods of controlling chronic and acute pain using the latest medical technologies, and the General Anesthesia Corner, which explained the types and stages of general anesthesia and how to monitor vital signs during operations.

Dr. Al-Omran indicated that these pillars come within the framework of the department’s endeavor to enhance community awareness of the importance of the specialty of anesthesia, and to correct the misconception that Anesthesiais a risky procedure, stressing that at present it is considered one of the safest medical procedures, thanks to modern technologies and careful monitoring of the patient’s condition at all stages of the procedure.
