"Al Dhafra Dates" Winners are crowned "The beauty of salvation"

Al Dhafra, 21 October / WAM / The organizing committee of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction yesterday crowned the winners of the “Khalas Dates Auction”, as part of the activities of the fourth session of the festival, which is held in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and continues until October 26.

His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Festivals and Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and His Excellency Engineer Abdullah Al Muaini, Executive Director of the Central Inspection Laboratory Sector at the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, crowned the winners of the competition amid a wide presence of representatives of participating entities, farmers, producers and visitors to the festival.

The number of participants in the Khalas auction reached 42 contestants who presented 2,100 kilograms of distinctive dates. The festival’s organizing committee allocated 10 prizes to the winners of this competition, worth 280,000 dirhams, of which the first winner received 75,000 dirhams, the second 50,000, and the third 40,000 dirhams.

As for yesterday’s date auction deals, the total sales amounted to 232,890 dirhams, and the amount of dates sold amounted to 2,775 kilograms, with a total of 925 boxes. The auction recorded the highest value for a single box of dates of the “Nawader” variety, at a value of 1,100 dirhams.

On Tuesday morning, the sorting and judging committees received entries from competitors in the Al-Zamili Dates Competition and the “Crystallized Honey Open Round” competition, in addition to entries for the date auction, which begins daily at six o’clock in the evening, and attracts those wishing to acquire luxurious Emirati dates.
