The “Federal National” discusses strengthening parliamentary cooperation with the “Mexican Senate”

Amna Ali Al-Adidi, member of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Federal National Council with the parliaments of Latin American and North American countries, discussed during her meeting the day before yesterday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council in Dubai, United States Mexican Senator Jose Fernandez, ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation and develop the partnership between the two councils.
The two sides praised the strength of bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and the United States of Mexico, which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding in 1975, and stressed that this occasion is an important milestone in strengthening the process of growing bilateral cooperation between the two countries for the benefit and prosperity of the two friendly peoples in light of the Emirati-Mexican relations that are based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect, and at the same time support joint efforts aimed at strengthening dialogue. The two sides stressed the distinguished parliamentary relations between the Federal National Council and the Senate and House of Representatives in Mexico, and the importance of framing this parliamentary cooperation through the signing of an understanding agreement that contributes to activating the role of the parliamentary friendship committees according to organized institutional work, with the aim of supporting continuous communication, exchanging legislative experiences and practices, unifying positions on issues of common interest in regional and global forums, and activating the role of diplomacy. The meeting touched on the remarkable growth witnessed in economic relations between the two countries, as the volume of non-oil trade exchange reached about 8.1 billion dirhams during the first 10 months of 2024, an indicator that reflects the strength of the economic partnership and the growth of investment opportunities in multiple sectors.
In this regard, the two sides also stressed the importance of moving forward towards negotiating a comprehensive economic partnership agreement that would expand the horizons of trade and investment cooperation and promote sustainable growth between the two friendly countries.
