Schubert expects CAF’s decision in Al-Ahly’s grievance regarding Gradishar and Issa Sy

Journalist Ahmed Schubert confirmed that Al-Ahly Club submitted an official grievance to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in objection to the decisions of Senegalese referee Issa Sy, who officiated the team’s match against Burundi’s Eagle Noir in the African Champions League, and his confrontation witnessed widespread arbitration controversy due to decisions that Al-Ahly considered influential and questionable.
Schubert indicated in his radio program on On Sport FM today, Monday, that Al-Ahly requested in its memorandum to lift the suspension of its player Gradishar, pointing out that such cases in Europe are dealt with strictly, including reviewing the penalty and stopping the erring referee, while in Africa the matter remains subject to discretion and decisions vary.
Schubert expected that the CAF Referees Committee would issue decisions in the coming hours that would include suspending Gradishar for one match only, in addition to suspending the Senegalese referee who committed influential errors that angered Al-Ahly fans.
In a related context, Schubert addressed the incident of the Libyan goalkeeper’s assault on the Egyptian Port Saidi player, Salah Mohsen, during the two teams’ match in the 32nd round of the African Confederation Championship, at the Suez Stadium, on Sunday evening, explaining that Salah Mohsen did not respond violently, and yet he was surprised with a red card in his face, in exchange for only a warning for the Libyan goalkeeper. Schubert advised the Al-Masry striker to avoid contact in order to preserve his right and the right of his team in such controversial arbitration situations.
