The Ministry of Health office in Umm Al Quwain organizes a marathon "The step is rosy"
Umm Al Quwain, 28 October / WAM / The Representative Office of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection in Umm Al Quwain, on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, organized the “A Pink Step… for Better Health” sports marathon, in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent Center in the Emirate and the Emirates Health Services Corporation, represented by Umm Al Quwain Hospital and Ras Al Khaimah Hospital.
Community and medical leaders in the emirate participated in the marathon, which was launched on the waterfront of Umm Al Quwain Creek, along with officials and employees of government agencies, school students and workers in private institutions.
The start of the marathon was preceded by free medical examinations and consultations for early detection of breast cancer, provided by the participating medical team from the cooperating hospitals, in addition to holding an awareness-raising health exhibition.
The organizers confirmed that this event is part of a series of community initiatives implemented by the office during the month of October, with the aim of promoting health awareness and encouraging an active lifestyle, noting that Breast Cancer Awareness Month represents an opportunity to highlight the importance of periodic examinations and the role of institutions in supporting national efforts to combat cancer and spreading a culture of prevention.
Ali Hamad bin Jarsh Al Ghafli, Director of the Ministry’s Representative Office in Umm Al Quwain, said that organizing the marathon embodies the Ministry’s keenness to establish health awareness among members of society, and to promote the concepts of prevention and early detection. He added that the participation from various governmental and educational agencies reflects the spirit of responsibility and solidarity that characterizes UAE society, and consolidates the values of giving and human cooperation.
