The Emirati Media Forum discusses the impact of the film industry and electronic games on the future of media

Dubai, 28 October / WAM / The activities of the tenth edition of the “Emirati Media Forum”, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, witnessed a dialogue session entitled “The Impact of the Film Industry and Electronic Games on the Future of Media”, in which His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation and Member of the Dubai Media Council, and His Excellency Essam Kazim participated, Executive Director of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, member of the Dubai Media Council, and moderated by Abdul Latif Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Sayegh Media.
The session discussed the rapid transformations in the global media landscape, where cinema and electronic games have become integral elements of the creative economy, and are no longer just means of entertainment, but rather among the strategic pillars of economic growth and media and cultural influence on the global level.
The session also reviewed the aspects of convergence between filmmaking as a narrative art and the gaming industry as an interactive environment, and how this convergence can form the nucleus of the future media economy, with an emphasis on the investment opportunities that these industries provide to local and international investors, and the importance of strengthening Dubai’s position as a regional center for cinematic and interactive production.
In his intervention during the session, His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul stressed that Dubai has an infrastructure and legislation that qualifies it to be a global destination for artificial intelligence and the electronic games industry, pointing to the great development in artificial intelligence tools and their impact on the daily lives of individuals, as many around the world have come to rely on them greatly in various fields, which calls on us to employ these tools in developing media strategies to be compatible with this development. Belhoul explained that investing in creative industries enhances the status of national media and expands the scope of its influence at the regional and global levels, stressing that the development of media content must be accompanied by tangible development in the platforms of media institutions to quickly keep pace with the successive changes in artificial intelligence tools and modern digital platforms.
For his part, His Excellency Issam Kazim pointed out the importance of the film industry and electronic games in promoting the Emirate of Dubai, and the modern strategies followed by the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing in cooperation with major international technology companies, to promote Dubai’s tourist attractions through films and electronic games, which contributes to attracting new segments of travelers around the world to visit Dubai, and contributes to highlighting the image of the emirate in a manner befitting its status as one of the most prominent. Destinations on the world tourism map.

Kazim pointed out the corporation’s cooperation with the Dubai Film and Electronic Games Office of the Dubai Media Council, in promoting the emirate in a way that preserves its identity and unique character and highlights its achievements in various fields, pointing to the successes achieved by international films that were filmed in Dubai, which contributed to increasing the interest of tourists around the world in placing Dubai in their plans as a preferred travel destination.
The session concluded by emphasizing that the next stage requires building an integrated media system that keeps pace with Dubai’s future ambitions and supports its presence in the global creative economy, to be a role model for employing the media as an influential soft force to convey the story of Dubai and the Emirates to the world in the language of creativity and innovation.
