The Arab League praises the leadership of the Emirati media in digital transformation

The Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the League of Arab States, Ambassador Ahmed Khattabi, praised the pioneering media experience of the United Arab Emirates, especially in the areas of legislative, technological and digital transformation, and described it as an added value to the initiatives aimed at enhancing the Arab media presence on the international scene.
This came during his meeting yesterday with the Executive Director of the Media Strategy and Policies Sector at the Emirates Media Council, Maitha Majid Al Suwaidi, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. A statement issued by the university explained that the meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the media and communication sector at the university and the Emirates Media Council, especially with regard to the distinguished contributions of the UAE in supporting the process of joint Arab media and developing its mechanisms, including the establishment of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media and the preparation of its code of conduct. The ongoing preparations for holding the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, the 21st session of the Executive Office, and the 103rd session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media were also discussed, in addition to reviewing the items on its agenda.
For her part, Maitha Majid Al Suwaidi reviewed the most prominent features of the new media legislation in the UAE, related to regulating media and digital content, noting that it represents a qualitative shift in various fields of written, audio, visual and digital media, and contributes to enhancing sound media practice, combating the circulation of rumors and false and misleading news, and consolidating the values of tolerance and peace and rejecting hatred and discrimination.
