"Federal Geographic Information" Participates in the Middle East Geospatial Summit 2025

Abu Dhabi, 31 October / WAM / The Federal Center for Geographic Information reviewed its most prominent national projects and initiatives that aim to enable government agencies to exchange spatial data and enhance integration between them, thus contributing to supporting data-based decision-making and achieving sustainable development goals in the country.
This came during the Middle East Geospatial Summit 2025, which was held under the auspices of the Federal Center for Geospatial Information on October 29 and 30 at the Edition Hotel Abu Dhabi, with the participation of an elite group of experts, specialists and decision-makers in the field of geospatial information from various countries of the world.
The summit included a series of dialogue sessions and specialized workshops that discussed the latest developments in the fields of spatial data management, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and remote sensing, in addition to presenting global best practices in geospatial governance and exchanging experiences between government institutions and the academic and private sectors.
His Excellency Engineer Hamid Khamis Al Kaabi, Director General of the Federal Center for Geospatial Information, explained in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the summit aims to enhance the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in developing the geospatial information sector as it is one of the basic pillars supporting digital strategies in the country, such as the artificial intelligence strategy and the autonomous vehicle strategy.
Al-Kaabi pointed out that the summit discussed a group of issues related to the geospatial information sector, most notably the applications of artificial intelligence and modern technologies in collecting and producing geographic data at the national level, and their role in supporting infrastructure and developing vital sectors in the country.
He pointed out that the summit’s agenda included reviewing pioneering international experiences in the field of collecting and producing geospatial data, in addition to presenting the UAE’s experience in employing artificial intelligence techniques to develop this vital sector in a way that enhances its global leadership.
He stressed that organizing the summit comes within the center’s efforts to enhance the concept and importance of geospatial data in developing vital sectors, and enabling them to benefit from digital transformation, noting that the accuracy and quality of geospatial data represents an essential factor in supporting the comprehensive development process in the country.
For her part, Her Excellency Engineer Anwar Al-Shammari, Executive Director of the Geospatial Governance Sector at the Centre, explained that the summit began its work with a dialogue session that brought together representatives of government agencies from several countries in addition to the private sector under the title “Strengthening the geospatial system at the regional and global level.”
Al-Shammari pointed out that the session witnessed wide international participation, which included the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with a number of international companies such as “TomTom” and “SDG Alliance,” and discussed three main axes that focused on governance, enhancing modern technologies, and mechanisms for developing geospatial data and moving it from the current reality to a more integrated future in establishing geospatial infrastructure.
