"Emirates Infrastructure and Housing" Its third meeting will be held in 2025

Dubai, November 2, 2017 – The Emirates Council for Infrastructure and Housing, during its third regular meeting for the year 2025, chaired by His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, discussed following up on the implementation of strategic initiatives and projects aimed at improving the transport and urban planning sectors, and future solutions to reduce traffic congestion and improve the flow of movement at the state level.
The Council reviewed the completion rates of national projects that contribute to alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing the flow of movement on roads in the emirates of the country, as part of efforts aimed at raising the efficiency of road networks and improving the quality of life in cities.
The Council also discussed plans to develop smart traffic solutions and integrate transportation systems, in a way that supports the government’s directions in building a sustainable and safe infrastructure that keeps pace with rapid urban and population growth, and meets the needs of society and the national economy.
He touched on the contribution of the national railway network in reducing traffic congestion on the roads, as it has succeeded, since its full inauguration in February 2023 until 2025, in reducing more than two million truck trips from the roads, and the number is expected to rise to approximately 7 million truck trips in the next five years, while the operation of freight trains has contributed to reducing carbon emissions by a rate ranging between 70% – 80% compared to transporting goods via trucks, which strengthens the country’s efforts to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei said that the concerned authorities continue to implement a national road map supporting the integration of land and rail transport at the federal and local levels, with the aim of reducing congestion, raising safety levels and improving the efficiency of logistical services, pointing out that the convening of the Emirates Infrastructure and Housing Council confirms the country’s commitment to adopting proactive solutions based on innovation and data, which contribute to enhancing the integration of the transport, housing and urban planning sectors, and keep pace with the objectives of the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision.
He added that the Emirates Council for Infrastructure and Housing is keen to formulate practical policies that shape the future of infrastructure and urban transport in the country, in line with national goals and the directives of the wise leadership.
