20 minutes to charge electric cars… and 750 fast chargers at stations by 2028

The CEO of ADNOC Distribution, Engineer Badr Al Lamki, said, “ADNOC Distribution provides the service of charging electric cars with fast chargers, which guarantee that the car is supplied with electricity within 20 minutes, and they are spread in stations on the main lines starting from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and from Abu Dhabi to the city of Al Ain and the Al Dhafra region,” adding that the number of electric chargers inside ADNOC Distribution stations has currently reached 300 electric chargers, and we aim to reach 700 or 750 chargers on the main roads by 2028, and it is expected that this target will actually be reached before this date.

Al Lamki confirmed in statements to “Emirates Today” that the customer’s experience in charging electric cars, through ADNOC Distribution stations, is easy and simple, as through advance preparation through the application and only once, the car can be charged every time, without any additional steps or procedures.

He said, “The Emiratisation file is one of the priority files at ADNOC Distribution, as the percentage reached about 63%, and we are continuing to enhance the percentage and increase jobs in all sectors, and we are committed to providing the best work environment for citizens, and currently almost all station managers are citizens, in addition to being present in other technical and administrative jobs, also within the ADNOC Oasis or at aircraft fueling stations.”

Al Lamki stressed that ADNOC Distribution also provides citizen entrepreneurs with opportunities to showcase their products and services, through presence in ADNOC Oasis, while providing the necessary support and partnership, as there are currently more than 1,000 stores managed within the ADNOC Distribution portfolio within the country, and space can be provided for any owners of new ideas, products and businesses within our stores to be closer to the public.

He added that ADNOC Distribution has the largest points loyalty program in the UAE, in which more than 2.5 million customers participate, and it has advantages, prizes and discounts. Points can also be converted into miles after signing an agreement with Etihad Airways, as well as with Landmark.

Al Lamki continued: “With regard to providing home gas cylinders, our services are varied according to the residential communities in which we are located, and also according to the legislation and requirements set by each emirate. For example – in some emirates and at the level of all fuel supply companies – the sale of cylinders is not allowed inside stations, while other emirates allow the sale, and ADNOC Distribution always adheres to all frameworks and procedures established by the concerned authorities at the level of the emirates of the country,” pointing out that the customer in Abu Dhabi can, For example, ordering a gas cylinder through the smart application, and then it can be delivered within 20 minutes.

Al Lamki revealed a new initiative by ADNOC Distribution, the details of which will be announced this November. It aims to provide integrated entertainment and community services within road stations under the name “The Hub,” providing families with shopping and entertainment, in addition to obtaining other distinctive services such as food, charging electric cars, and refueling. He stressed that “with such initiatives we try to be close to the public, and this is what we are keen on in any new expansion plans.”

He added that the performance of the first nine months of the current year is considered record-breaking, with the highest numbers ever in the company’s history, as net profit reached $580 million (2.12 billion dirhams), with a growth rate exceeding 15%, and fuel sales recorded 11 billion and 700 million liters, while the number of transactions approached 200 million transactions.

He stressed that all the goals that were set were also achieved, as the number of service stations reached 980 stations, of which 70 stations were added during 2025 within the country, and will reach 100 new stations by the end of this year, and currently our share amounts to more than 60% within the local market, and the number of stations in Saudi Arabia doubled from 69 to 172 stations during the first nine months of this year, within the light operating model, in a step that reflects smart expansion regionally.

The pace of growth

The CEO of ADNOC Distribution, Engineer Badr Al-Lamki, said, “The pace of growth at ADNOC Distribution focuses on two aspects. The first relates to fuel service and the second relates to other services not related to fuel, such as restaurants and various stores, in addition to electric car charging, car washing and care services, in addition to many other services.”
