Sharjah Voluntary Work Award opens registration for its 23rd session


Sharjah, 3 November / WAM / The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work announced the start of receiving applications for registration for its twenty-third session, starting from the day before yesterday, “Saturday,” until next December 31, through its website, to honor individuals and institutions with outstanding contributions to volunteer work.
Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Hammadi, Secretary General of the Award, confirmed that the new session continues to enhance the culture of volunteerism and encourage community initiatives, noting that the Award has become a leading platform for appreciating inspiring volunteer initiatives in the Emirates.
Al Hammadi explained that the previous session witnessed wide participation that reflects society’s awareness of the importance of volunteering in sustainable development, pointing out the development of evaluation criteria and arbitration mechanisms this year to keep pace with the latest developments.
He added that the 2024 session honored 41 winners out of 105 participants after implementing 254,760 volunteer hours with the participation of 16,901 volunteers in 73 volunteer opportunities, in addition to financial support worth 595,674 dirhams, which confirms the societal impact of the award annually.
For her part, Suad Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the Award, confirmed that the Award supports and empowers volunteers by honoring the efforts of individuals and institutions, noting the adoption of a new category, bringing the total to 15 diverse categories that attract different age groups and sectors.
The categories include Best Volunteer Opportunity Creator, Distinguished Supporter, Best Volunteer Initiative, Record Number of Volunteer Hours, Highest Participating University Student, Highest Participating Volunteer Work Knight, Originality for the Elderly, Help for People with Disabilities, Best Community Entity, Best Volunteer Team, Best Young Leader, Role Model Volunteer, Best Suburb, Excellence in Social Responsibility Award, and Excellence in Specialized Volunteering.
The award called on all individuals and institutions to participate and contribute to consolidating the values of volunteer work and spreading the culture of giving in society.
