The Minister of Youth and Sports inaugurates the World Table Tennis Championship for people with mental disabilities
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, opened, this evening, Monday, the activities of the World Table Tennis Championship for Mental Disabilities, which Cairo is hosting during the period from (3-7) this November, in the hall complex at Cairo International Stadium, with the participation of 10 countries from different continents of the world.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of Eng. Amal Mobdi, President of the Egyptian Federation for Intellectual Disabilities, Vice President of the Paralympic Committee and Vice President of the International Federation for Mental Disabilities, and Robin Smis, a member of the International Federation. (Virtus), a member of the International Paralympic Committee, Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Chairman of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, and a number of sports and executive leaders and Egyptian sports icons.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi stressed that Egypt’s organization of this global sports event comes as an extension of the successes of the Egyptian state in hosting major international tournaments, in light of the support of the political leadership for sports and its champions in various fields.
The Minister of Youth and Sports indicated that the tournament represents a humanitarian and civilizational message that affirms Egypt’s leading position in supporting and empowering people of determination, stressing that the Ministry of Youth and Sports pays great attention to sports with mental disabilities by providing full support to sports federations and providing all the technical and medical requirements and necessary preparation programs for players, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who is the first supporter of Egypt’s champions with special abilities.
The Minister praised the close cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, and the Egyptian Federation for Intellectual Disabilities, indicating that the Ministry considers all bodies and federations Sports is one entity that works to serve the Egyptian sports system and achieve the ambitions of its champions in various international forums.
