The US government shutdown becomes the longest in the country’s history as it enters its 36th day

The government shutdown in the United States has entered its 36th day, becoming the longest in the country’s history, surpassing the period of paralysis of 2019 during Donald Trump’s first presidential term.

Since the end of the previous federal state budget on October 1, Republicans and Democrats in Congress have not been able to reach an agreement that allows them to overcome this paralysis, which led to the freezing of social benefits, referred hundreds of thousands of government employees to technical unemployment, and affected air traffic.
