The UAE supports efforts to impose a humanitarian truce and immediate ceasefire in Sudan

Abu Dhabi, 5 November / WAM / The UAE has affirmed its full support for regional and international efforts aimed at imposing an immediate humanitarian truce and a comprehensive ceasefire in Sudan, allowing aid to reach those affected and putting an end to the ongoing suffering of civilians since the outbreak of the civil war.
The UAE expressed its strong condemnation and deep denunciation of the humanitarian violations and horrific crimes committed against civilians in various parts of Sudan affected by the civil war, including the city of El Fasher, stressing that targeting civilians, residential neighborhoods, and vital facilities in all areas witnessing armed military confrontations constitutes a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and all humanitarian values and principles, and that the horrific attacks witnessed by the country represent a crime against humanity that requires an international stance. United and resolute.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the warring parties to assume their full responsibilities to protect civilians and ensure the urgent, safe and unhindered access of humanitarian aid, stressing that exploiting human suffering or aid for political or military purposes is rejected and condemned.
The UAE affirmed that the Quartet’s joint statement on Sudan constitutes a historic step in the efforts aimed at ending the crisis, as it provides an accurate diagnosis of its nature and draws a clear roadmap for addressing it, through a humanitarian truce followed by a civil transfer of power, reiterating that there is no military solution to the Sudanese crisis, and that the regional and international consensus reflected in the statement represents important support for the path of peace and Sudan’s unity.
The UAE reaffirmed its firm position calling for the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, adopting a political solution and comprehensive national dialogue as the only path to ending the civil war, preserving Sudan’s unity and stability, and supporting regional and international efforts to alleviate the human suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people.
