China confirms its readiness to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce confirmed on Thursday its readiness to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union and explore the possibility of negotiating various trade and economic agreements, including an investment agreement.

The China International Television Network (CGTN) in its English-language bulletin quoted ministry spokesman He Yadong as saying, “Beijing is following the European Union’s efforts aimed at diversifying export markets by signing more free trade agreements… noting that China is working to enhance a high level of Opening up by proactively aligning with high-level international economic and trade rules, as well as steadily expanding the scope of institutional openness. He added that China and the European Union share broad common interests and have great potential for cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.
