On behalf of the President of the State… Nahyan bin Mubarak heads the UAE delegation to the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha

Doha, 6 November / WAM / On behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, headed the UAE delegation participating in the Second World Summit for Social Development, which was hosted by the State of Qatar at the Qatar National Convention Center, under the slogan “Together for comprehensive and sustainable social development.”
The summit was opened by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, in the presence of a number of country leaders, heads of government, and representatives of international and regional organizations, in addition to an elite group of prominent international figures in the fields of social and economic development.
The summit, which is considered one of the most important global platforms concerned with the future of social development, witnessed broad participation from thought leaders, policy makers, and civil society organizations, in addition to representatives of the United Nations and the private sector, where participants discussed ways to enhance social justice and build more inclusive and sustainable societies.
It should be noted that the first World Summit for Social Development was held in Copenhagen in 1995, as it represented an international starting point for consolidating the concept of comprehensive social development as one of the axes of sustainable development in the world.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak was accompanied at the head of the delegation by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, and Her Excellency Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Union, along with a number of senior officials in the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence and representatives of relevant national authorities.
Representatives of a number of national bodies concerned with social development participated within the UAE delegation to the summit, including:
Ministry of Community Empowerment, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, General Women’s Union, Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Office of Development Affairs, Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, Family Welfare Authority – Abu Dhabi, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, Community Contributions Authority (Together), Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, Community Development Authority – Dubai, Department of Social Services – Sharjah, and Department of Statistics and Community Development – Sharjah.
The UAE’s participation in the Second World Summit for Social Development confirms its firm commitment to an integrated development approach that places social development at the heart of its national vision, as the basis for building prosperous and stable societies.
The state believes that investing in people and society represents the most important pillar for achieving sustainable development, by enhancing social cohesion, empowering individuals and families, and expanding the scope of community participation in the process of national progress.
The UAE’s presence in this prominent international event embodies the vision of its wise leadership in supporting international efforts aimed at building a more equitable and cooperative world, and consolidating the country’s position as a global model for comprehensive development, human peace, and international solidarity.
