The Minister of Culture discusses with Hussein Fahmy arrangements for the launch of the 46th Cairo Film Festival
As part of the intensive preparations for the launch of the forty-sixth session of the Cairo International Film Festival, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, held a meeting with the great artist Hussein Fahmy, president of the festival, during which he discussed the final details of the opening arrangements and accompanying events, in preparation for the launch of the most prominent cinematic event during the period from 12 to 21 November 2025, which carries within it the spirit of Cairo, the cultural and artistic capital of the world. During the meeting, the Minister of Culture stressed that the Cairo International Film Festival is an honorable cultural showcase for Egypt before the world, and one of the most important tools of its soft power that highlights its cultural and artistic leadership regionally and internationally.
The Minister indicated the state’s keenness to provide full support for the festival to ensure that it emerges in the best possible way befitting the ancient history of Egyptian cinema and its global status, explaining that the festival represents a platform for dialogue and exchange. Experiences among makers of the seventh art from various continents, and embodying Egypt’s commitment to supporting creative industries and enhancing international cultural cooperation.
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno added that the new session comes this year with a renewed vision that reflects the state’s orientation towards integrating different arts and expanding the horizons of interaction between cinema and plastic arts, to embody the message of peace, hope and beauty that Cairo carries to the world, noting that the program will witness an expansion in participation and performances, in addition to the development of innovative activities. It highlights the diversity of international cinematic experiences.
For his part, the great artist Hussein Fahmy expressed his deep appreciation for the interest and support of the Ministry of Culture, stressing that this support represents a fundamental pillar in the continued success of the festival as a global artistic platform carrying the authentic Egyptian identity.
During the meeting, Fahmy reviewed the most prominent features of the final arrangements for the opening ceremony, and the reception of the festival’s guests from various countries of the world, in addition to the details of the artistic programs and performances participating in the official competition, noting that the session The 46th edition will witness a qualitative shift in the mechanisms of organization and presentation that keep pace with the latest trends in the international film industry.
The festival president stressed that the festival administration pays special attention to the participation of young people and independent artists, believing in their role in renewing the blood of Egyptian and Arab cinema, and keen to build bridges of dialogue between different generations in a way that enriches the artistic scene and enhances creative communication.
