The Ministry of Culture participates in the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025


Sharjah, 7 November / WAM / The Ministry of Culture is participating in the 44th session of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which is currently hosted by the Expo Center Sharjah and continues until November 16, with a rich cultural program aimed at enhancing the Emirati cultural identity, empowering creative people, and inspiring future generations.
The program includes daily cultural sessions and seminars hosting an elite group of writers, writers, and cultural icons during which they discuss various topics. It also includes a special corner for youth that organizes discussion panels and debates in partnership with the Federal Youth Foundation.
Among the Ministry’s prominent activities at the exhibition is the “Youth and Cultural Identity Hackathon”, which includes a group of national talents alongside experts to produce innovative projects that contribute to enhancing awareness of heritage, in partnership with the Federal Youth Foundation, in addition to the Arabic Calligraphy and Decoration Arts Exhibition, which displays paintings using virtual reality technology.
The children’s corner “We Read, Draw, and Dream Together” offers interactive workshops such as “Read, Imagine, Draw” and reading sessions for selected stories, in addition to workshops in Arabic calligraphy and a journey with heritage.
As part of celebrating national heritage, the Ministry displays rare books and poetic works by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” including the book “The Sport of Falconry from Our Arab Heritage,” the collection “Grace from Al Dhafra,” the collection “Pearl for the People,” and other books that talk about his career full of giving and construction, including the book “The Desert Falcon: The Life Story of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,” in addition to signing parties for a number of From writers who have received culture and creativity grants, with a corner allocated to present their works to the public.
Through its pavilion at the exhibition, the Ministry will showcase its policies and programs to empower creative people, such as the National Program for Granting Culture and Creativity, the National Framework for Cultural Activities in Schools, and services for issuing recommendations for creative sabbaticals and golden residency.
His Excellency Mubarak Al-Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, confirmed that the Ministry’s participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair stems from the exhibition’s position as one of the most prominent cultural platforms in the region, and its pivotal role in supporting the publishing industry and promoting the literary and intellectual movement.
He added that participation is consistent with the Ministry’s strategy aimed at empowering creators, promoting cultural and creative industries, and consolidating the presence of Emirati culture as an essential contributor to building a creative and cultured society.
His Excellency pointed out that the exhibition constitutes an important opportunity for direct interaction between writers, readers and intellectuals, in a way that enhances cultural dialogue and instills a love of knowledge in the souls of new generations, stressing that these values are consistent with the Ministry’s directions in building a reading, cultured and creative society.
The Ministry’s participation in the exhibition embodies its continued commitment to supporting creators through qualitative initiatives such as the National Program for Granting Culture and Creativity, which benefited 43 Emirati creators from various emirates of the country during its second session in 2024, and contributed to the publication of distinguished works such as the novel “Qasr Al-Zaba” by the writer Muhammad Al-Habsi, the picture book “Under the Ghaf Tree” by Sarah Al-Muhairi, and a series of stories entitled “The Journey of Falah and Reem” by the writer Fatima Al-Alayli.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Culture’s participation in the previous sessions of the Sharjah International Book Fair witnessed a remarkable presence and wide interaction from the public, as the Ministry organized over the past years a series of cultural seminars and dialogues that contributed to strengthening the cultural scene and consolidating the position of the Emirati book in the regional and international literary movement.
