Our national jiu-jitsu team raises its tally to 11 medals at the World Junior Championships in Thailand

Our national jiu-jitsu team for juniors under 16 years old raised its total medal tally to 11 medals at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships hosted by the Thai capital, Bangkok, during the period from 8 to 14 November of this year, after the female players of the team succeeded today in adding 4 new medals in the fights of the junior women’s category under 16 years old, one silver and 3 bronze medals, to be added to yesterday’s tally of 7 medals.
Sarah Farouk won the silver medal in the 48 kg weight category, while Mathael Al Hammadi and Ghaihab Al Rashdi won a bronze medal in the 36 kg weight category, and Maitha Al Karbi won a bronze medal in the 40 kg weight category.
With these results, the total achieved by our national team in the under-16 category has risen to 11 medals, with two golds, three silvers, and six bronzes, confirming its strong presence and continued competition for advanced positions within this global event.
Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the outstanding performance and advanced level presented by the nation’s girls during the second day of competitions, stressing that the skill, confidence and discipline demonstrated by the female athletes reflects the advanced status that women’s jiu-jitsu has reached in the country thanks to the vision of the wise leadership and the federation’s continuous support.
Al Zaabi said: “This strong start gives us great motivation to continue to shine in the under-18 and under-21 categories, and to enhance the team’s medal tally, which contributes to enhancing the team’s chances of competing for the title, and consolidating the country’s position on the global sports arena.”
For her part, Sarah Farouk, who won the silver medal in the 48 kg weight category, expressed her pride in this achievement, saying: “Reaching the podium in the World Championship and achieving the silver medal is a dream come true thanks to the support of the technical staff and my teammates in the team. The competition was difficult, but we entered the tournament with great determination to represent the UAE in the best way. I feel proud and honored because I contributed to raising our team’s medal tally, and I will continue to work and strive to achieve the gold medal and raise the UAE flag in the tournament.” Upcoming forums.
