“Iran will participate in the World Cup” next summer in the United States, despite the ongoing war in the Middle East, according to what FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed on Tuesday to Agence France-Presse while attending a friendly match for Team Melli.

“We are here for that,” Infantino added during the break between the two halves of the friendly match between Iran and Costa Rica in Antalya in southern Türkiye. “We are happy because it is a very, very strong team, and I am very happy.”
