After the lackluster performance… Liverpool is considering abandoning Salah

Speculation has increased in sports circles about the future of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah with the English club Liverpool, following the recent loss to Manchester City with three unanswered goals in the 11th round of the English Premier League, and the Egyptian player’s lackluster performance during it.
Press reports stated that Liverpool FC is considering abandoning the Egyptian star and allowing him to leave at the end of the current season in 2026, despite his contract until 2027 with the club.
Previous press reports linked Salah with a move to the Saudi League, due to the great popularity he enjoys in the Arab region.
Salah’s level witnessed a significant decline at the beginning of the current season, as he scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 15 matches. The English media and the club’s fans began attacking Salah, especially after the poor performance he showed during the current season, and they considered him the biggest problem that Liverpool is currently facing.
The fans called on Dutch coach Arne Slot to make a “bold” decision to remove him from the starting lineup from time to time.
I considered that Salah is not making a sufficient effort defensively, and is not making any contribution to the team’s teamwork.
Salah moved to Liverpool from Italian club Roma in the summer of 2017 for 36.9 million pounds sterling and witnessed great seasons of success with him.
During his career with Liverpool, Salah won the English Premier League title twice in the 2019-2020 season and the 2024-2025 season, and the Champions League title with Liverpool in the 2018-2019 season. He also won the European Super Championship in the summer of 2019, and also the Club World Cup in the same year, and the Charity Shield title in the 2022-2023 season, in addition to winning the FA Cup title in 2022. And the League Cup Championship in 2022 and 2024.
Salah is preparing to participate with his country in the friendly quadrennial tournament hosted by the UAE in November, and the African Nations Cup in Morocco next December.
