DUBAI, 12 November / WAM / Majid Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of TECOM Group – Dubai Media City, Dubai Production City and Dubai Studio City, confirmed that the group continues to contribute to consolidating the position of the UAE and Dubai as a global destination for innovation and media production, through an integrated business system that contributes to achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33” and promoting the knowledge-based creative economy.

Al Suwaidi said, in an exclusive interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the TECOM Group owns and operates 10 specialized and pioneering business complexes in Dubai, including Dubai Media City, Dubai Production City, and Dubai Studio City, which together constitute the group’s media sector. He explained that this sector contributes to achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33” and enhancing the knowledge economy, by providing a global media system that stimulates innovation, creativity, and content creation and contributes to creating opportunities. New jobs and accelerate economic growth.

He added that the group’s media sector provides its clients with opportunities to benefit from the shared workspaces “D/Quarters” in Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, which meet trends towards adopting more flexible work patterns, in addition to the “in5 Media” business incubator, which specializes in supporting and empowering emerging companies and entrepreneurs within the media sector, and which is affiliated with the “in5” business incubator.

He pointed out that the “in5” business incubator of the TECOM Group has provided support to more than 1,100 startup companies in the technology, media, design and science sectors, which have received total funding worth more than AED 9 billion since its launch in 2013.

Speaking about the role of media complexes in attracting sector leaders specialized in the fields of broadcasting, production and content creation, Al Suwaidi said that the media sector of the TECOM Group includes the most prominent international and regional companies in various fields of media, and provides an integrated media environment that contributes to consolidating Dubai’s position as a leading global destination for the creative economy.

He explained that the sector provides first-class office space and studios in Dubai Media City, outdoor spaces designated for photography and soundproof studios with international standards in Dubai Studio City, in addition to facilities designated for post-production stages, including filming rooms with a green background and recording rooms distributed throughout Dubai Production City, which includes the “in5 Media” business incubator specialized in this field.

He pointed out that the sector includes an elite group of the most prominent media leaders such as CNN, CNBC Arabia, and Discovery Networks, which reflects Dubai’s ability to attract the most prominent media companies in the region and the world, noting that Epson, the global leader in technology, opened its modern innovation center in Dubai Production City earlier this year.

He added that the “A Look at Arab Media – Future Vision 2025” report, issued by the Dubai Press Club in cooperation with Dubai Media City, expects the media market in the Middle East and North Africa region to grow from 62.4 billion dirhams in 2024 to 75.6 billion dirhams in 2028, and that this growth is expected to be led by leading digital sectors such as electronic games and online marketing, which expectations indicate will grow at a compound annual rate of 4.4%. and 7.2%, respectively.

Regarding the role of startups and entrepreneurs in supporting content creation, Al Suwaidi stressed that the TECOM Group’s media sector provides support to entrepreneurs in various fields of media and creativity, through “in5 Media” in Dubai Production City, by facilitating their access to shared work spaces, studios, dedicated filming rooms, and production facilities. It hosted more than 20 experts, creatives and entrepreneurs from the French “Produire au Sud (PAS)” platform, in the second session of the “Dubai Studio City x PAS” workshop.

He added that the incubator also cooperated with the “Business Angels of Slovenia” group to organize a series of workshops, networking sessions, and guidance and guidance opportunities, which aim to advance the wheel of innovation and facilitate the establishment of new partnerships within the creative sectors, stressing that such partnerships contribute to consolidating the position of the “in5” business incubator as a leading destination for launching international companies of all sizes.
