The UAE welcomes the signing of the Doha Framework Peace Agreement by the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congo River Alliance

The UAE welcomed the signing of the Doha Framework Agreement for Peace between the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the “Congo River – March 23 Movement” coalition.

Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, appreciated the diplomatic efforts and tireless efforts made by the sisterly State of Qatar in facilitating the conclusion of this agreement, which is considered a pivotal step in achieving national reconciliation and the security, prosperity and comprehensive peace that the friendly people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo aspire to.

Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan praised the constructive participation of both sides and their response to efforts to achieve peace, and the cooperation of regional and international partners, especially the United States, the African Union Commission, and the Republic of Togo, in creating the conditions to reach this agreement, which stresses the need to protect civilians, facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid, and ensure the safe return of the displaced, in a way that enhances stability in the eastern Congo region.

Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan affirmed the UAE’s support for all regional and international endeavors aimed at settling disputes peacefully and consolidating the foundations of security and stability on the African continent and the world.
