The Ministry of Health and Community Protection and Dubai Police enhance the UAE’s leadership in the field of organ donation and transplantation

DUBAI, 17th November, 2017 (WAM) – The Ministry of Health and Community Protection, represented by the National Center for Regulating the Transfer and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues, and the Dubai Police General Command, signed a memorandum of understanding to support the National Program for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues, “Hayat”. This comes within the framework of strengthening strategic partnerships between government institutions and embodying the values of cooperation, institutional integration, and upgrading the health care system.
The memorandum was signed at the Ministry’s headquarters in Dubai, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Amin Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector, and His Excellency Major General Ahmed Thani bin Ghalita, Director of the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology at Dubai Police, in the presence of senior officials and advisors from both parties.
The memorandum aims to achieve a qualitative shift in the organ donation system by building a pioneering model for institutional integration, developing highly efficient immediate response mechanisms in emergency situations, and enhancing safety and transparency in procedures to ensure saving the largest possible number of lives.
It also includes launching joint initiatives to enhance community awareness, building an advanced digital mechanism to accelerate coordination and information exchange processes, and training specialized cadres to contribute to consolidating the culture of organ donation as an authentic societal value that reflects the spirit of cohesion and solidarity that characterizes UAE society.
The scope of cooperation includes establishing work teams and joint committees, developing clear action plans to promote organ donation at the national and international levels, cooperation in specialized studies and scientific research related to organ donation, in addition to cooperation in the field of awareness, training and education through exchanging experiences and data, organizing awareness programs and encouraging the exercise of the right to donate. Organizing joint government events and initiatives and participating in local and international medical conferences. The memorandum also includes exchanging experiences and knowledge through training programs and awareness campaigns.
Dr. Amin Al Amiri stressed that the strategic partnership with the Dubai Police General Command to support the National Program for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues “Hayat” comes within the framework of the Year of Society initiatives and the ministry’s strategy to enhance the process of government integration to support the national health system and reflects the future vision of our wise leadership in building a unique Emirati model for sustainable development that is centered around people and enhances the quality of life. The integration of roles between government institutions constitutes an essential tributary to achieving excellence and leadership in the health sector and enabling the “Hayat” program to achieve its ambitious goals, develop its system and enhance Its standards are in accordance with the highest international practices adopted, while harnessing artificial intelligence technologies in awareness campaigns and exploring healthy lifestyle patterns that improve biological age and enhance donation opportunities when needed.”
He said that the “Hayat” program represents an integrated national model that combines global medical excellence with sublime humanitarian dimensions and works according to an integrated system that guarantees the highest standards of quality and efficiency in managing organ donation and transplantation processes. He expressed his pride that the UAE has today become a leading model in the organ donation and transplantation system at the regional and global levels, as it has succeeded in building an integrated national program that combines medical excellence with the humanitarian dimension and embodies the values of giving rooted in our society. What distinguishes our experience is the integrated efforts of health institutions and strategic partners in developing an advanced digital system that ensures the highest standards of transparency and efficiency, with a focus on building a community culture supportive of organ donation.”
His Excellency Major General Ahmed Thani bin Ghalaita said that supporting the organ donation and transfer program is not just an institutional commitment, but rather a direct embodiment of the UAE’s vision of building an interdependent society in which state institutions cooperate to protect life and improve the quality of health care. He added, “From this standpoint, Dubai Police sees the partnership with the Ministry of Health and Community Protection as an extension of its societal role and an effective contribution to the success of one of the national initiatives that reflects the highest civilizational and human values. Today we put all our technical, human and logistical capabilities to serve this national file and are working to develop rapid and effective response protocols that ensure the speedy transfer of organs within the highest standards of safety and professionalism.”
He added that the partnership represents a strategic step in the process of enhancing the readiness of Dubai Police to deal with emergency humanitarian situations that require high coordination between various national authorities, noting that Dubai Police works according to a precise system that ensures the harnessing of smart technologies and field capabilities to support the desired goals in accordance with the best approved international standards.
