Flydubai signs a memorandum of understanding with Boeing to purchase 75 aircraft

Flydubai signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing to purchase 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft at a value of $13 billion. This step reflects the carrier’s efforts to achieve Dubai’s vision for the growth of the aviation sector in the coming years.
The agreement was signed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Flydubai, with Stephanie Pope, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in the presence of Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, at the Dubai Airshow 2025.
Commenting on this important announcement, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Flydubai, said: “We are pleased to announce a new aircraft order with Boeing. Looking to the future, proactive fleet planning is essential to ensure our ability to meet the increasing demand for travel, a demand that we are confident will continue to grow. Anticipating future needs is a critical factor in the success of any airline, and today’s announcement reflects our commitment to this principle.”
His Highness added: “Dubai’s environment, which is characterized by world-class infrastructure, advanced legislation, open skies policies and its ability to attract global talent, are overall factors in enabling flydubai to expand and grow. We are proud to have signed another order for 737 MAX aircraft with Boeing, a trusted partner who has played a major role in expanding our network to its current size. Reliable aircraft availability and timely delivery are vital to the continued growth of our sector, and this agreement ensures that we remain in “Good position for future growth, by adding more aircraft to our fleet and replacing existing aircraft.”
His Highness continued: “I would like to thank our team for their dedication and hard work. Their efforts, along with Dubai’s ambitious vision for the coming years, reflect our optimism for the future, including playing a major role in the expansion plans of Dubai Al Maktoum Airport.”
The new agreement allows flydubai to benefit from the flexibility and commonality of the 737 MAX family, while utilizing the unique size and range of the 737-8, 737-9 and 737-10.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “Flydubai is one of the first operators of the 737 MAX aircraft in the world, and its plan to place the current order, which is its fifth order to date, reflects the market-leading value and versatility of the 737 MAX aircraft. We are proud that Boeing aircraft will remain an essential pillar of flydubai’s strategic fleet and its growth plans.”
Flydubai operates a modern and active fleet consisting of 96 Boeing 737 aircraft, which includes: 27 Boeing 737-800 new generation aircraft, 66 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, and 03 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft.
