Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi witnesses the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Sharjah and the Institutional Excellence Award "Stand out"

Sharjah, April 16, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Institutional Excellence Award “Tamayoz”, witnessed today, Thursday, the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the Knowledge Empowerment Program in the field of institutional excellence between the University of Sharjah and the Institutional Excellence Award “Tamayoz”, in His Highness’s office at the university.

His Highness emphasized the importance of the award and the role it plays at the level of participating institutions, explaining that the recommendations that came out of the previous brainstorming session have been taken into account, and work is underway to implement them in a way that contributes to improving the award and enhancing the quality levels of the various participating institutions. His Highness pointed out that all entities enjoy excellence, while the award contributes to highlighting the best among them, and creating a competitive environment that stimulates continuous development.

His Highness, the President of the Institutional Excellence Award “Tamayoz”, called on the participating entities to benefit from the reports of the first session to find out development observations, in addition to nominating their employees for training programs that enable them to support excellence and quality files. His Highness wished everyone good luck and success, and extended his thanks and appreciation to the participating and supporting entities of the award, for their prominent impact on its success and the achievement of its goals.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Director of the Institutional Excellence Award “Tamayoz,” and Dr. Essam Al-Din Ajami, Director of the University of Sharjah.

The memorandum, which was signed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Department of Oil, and a number of senior officials of the entities headed by His Highness, aims to develop human cadres and qualify specialists in the fields of excellence, through the development and implementation of specialized training programs, including the “Institutional Excellence Diploma” directed to work teams, and the “Career Excellence Program” directed to individuals. The programs work to enable employees to build excellence files and submit them in accordance with the evaluation criteria approved by the Institutional Excellence Award “Tamayoz.”

The memorandum specified the scope of work in the detailed program, while allowing room for future development work to be added through independent agreements that ensure continuity of cooperation. This signing represents a fundamental pillar towards building a strategic partnership aimed at improving job performance and establishing a culture of excellence as a sustainable work approach in institutions.

For his part, Hassan Yacoub Al Mansouri, Director of the Institutional Excellence Award “Tamayoz,” thanked and appreciated His Highness the President of the Award for his great support for all institutions, and His Highness’s continued keenness to consolidate the concepts of development and excellence, stressing that this support constitutes a major motivation towards achieving the highest levels of institutional performance.

Al Mansouri explained that signing the memorandum of understanding is one of the outcomes of the brainstorming session, which recommended focusing on training and development, thanking the sponsors of the award, which reflects the integration of roles between the government and private sectors, stressing that this cooperation contributes to improving the quality of government services and enhancing their efficiency.

Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami, Director of the University of Sharjah, discussed the importance of the partnership with the “Tamayoz” Award, which contributes to moving institutions from the theoretical stage to the practical application stage, with a focus on enhancing teamwork, consolidating the institutional methodology, and achieving sustainability in performance, through training and qualifying employees in the participating entities.

He praised the award’s diversity of specializations, describing it as a point of strength and a positive opportunity for the participating institutions, stressing that it has begun to bear fruit through training and qualification programs and the creation of a constructive competitive environment among entities, wishing everyone success in achieving the award’s goals.

Mona Al-Ghawi, General Coordinator of the Institutional Excellence Award “Tamayoz”, confirmed that the launch of the cognitive empowerment program in the field of institutional and functional excellence is not limited to being a training initiative, but rather embodies a central idea that excellence is not granted, but is built on the foundations of science, knowledge and experience, explaining that the difference between institutions is no longer measured by capabilities as much as it is measured by their ability to learn, adapt and build capabilities from within, pointing out that true excellence is not made by resources or plans alone, but rather by the continuous ability to Evolution.

She explained that the Institutional Excellence Award represents more than just a framework for evaluation, it is a real engine that pushes institutions to rethink, raise the ceiling of ambition, and transform excellence into a sustainable daily practice, pointing out that the goal is not to achieve temporary results, but rather to build institutions that are flexible, ready, and able to adapt with confidence.

Dr. Asma Nasiri, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, gave a presentation that covered information about the training programs that the Center will provide to employees of entities participating in the “Tamayoz” Award. The training program in career excellence aims to enable employees to transform their individual achievements into an institutional impact that can be measured and evaluated according to the standards of the Excellence Awards. The program extends to 40 training hours focusing on the target groups and their standards, explaining that the program gives participants a comprehensive understanding of the evaluation requirements and the mechanisms for documenting achievements and formulating them in a professional manner, while enhancing their readiness to compete in the future. During a practical application experience that includes simulating the roles of the candidate and the evaluator, and implementing workshops to analyze achievements, leading to the preparation of an integrated job candidacy file.

As for the Professional Diploma in Institutional Excellence, it targets excellence teams in entities and cadres charged with leading the process of excellence from within their institutions, and works to enable them to manage and apply institutional excellence standards in a systematic and sustainable manner.

The program is also offered with a total of 120 training hours covering the five categories concerned with the Corporate Excellence Award, and includes an applied project implemented within the employer, which contributes to building the capabilities of excellence teams and achieving a direct and sustainable impact of the training results.
