Zelensky: 22 people are still missing after the Russian strike on Ternopil


The Ukrainian President announced Volodymyr Zelensky Thursday said 22 people were still missing a day after Ukrainesince the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022. Rescue teams are still searching for survivors among the rubble.

Searching for missing persons

Zelensky said on social media "Rescue teams worked throughout the night in Ternopil and search and rescue operations are still ongoing. 22 people are still missing"

It was reported that more than 230 rescue personnel were deployed in the city.

Emergency services confirmed to Agence France-Presse that more than twenty people whose fate is not yet known.

Its spokesman Oleksandr Khorungi said. "Communication is currently cut off with more than twenty people"

Recovery of bodies

He added "Our priority is to remove the rubble, and above all to detect survivors or recover bodies, as the case may be"

Emergency services published on Wednesday night scenes showing rescue personnel working in the darkness among the rubble with the help of cranes to reach the top of the huge building that was extensively destroyed.
