8 exhibitions for 70 creative people in Calligraphy Square in Sharjah


Sharjah, November 20, WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, accompanied by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Director of the Islamic Arts Festival, today opened 8 art exhibitions for 70 innovators in Arabic calligraphy and Islamic decoration, in Calligraphy Square in the heart of Sharjah, in the presence of an elite group of artists, calligraphers and lovers of calligraphy arts.
These exhibitions are part of the activities of the twenty-sixth session of the Islamic Arts Festival, and were as follows: “Siraj” by the Emirati artist Fatima Lootah, “Succession of Generations” by the Emirati artist Muhammad Mendy and his students, “Black Ink Light” by the Turkish artist Fatih Ozkava, “Communication” by the Egyptian artist Abdel Fattah and his student Ashraf Hassan, “Siraj Al Madad” by the late calligrapher Abbas Al-Baghdadi and the Syrian calligrapher Ayman Ghazal, and “Reflection” by the Turkish artist Professor Dr. Omar Farouk Tashkula and his students, “Washing Letters” by Moroccan artists Badr Al-Sihi and Fouad Abelili, and “Funoon Al-Qalam” by Iranian artist Habib Ramadanpour.
Al Owais and Al Quseir, accompanied by the attendees, toured the exhibition halls and viewed a wide range of calligraphy, decorative and gold works presented by the participating artists. They also listened to explanations about the materials used, implementation techniques, and visual styles that reflect the diversity of experiences and the depth of aesthetic visions.
The audience stopped at the most prominent exhibition stations, especially the works that restore the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy in contemporary formulations, and those that combine crafts, color, and raw materials in innovative ways.
At the conclusion of the tour, Al Owais and Al Quseir handed over certificates of appreciation to the participants, in honor of their artistic efforts and creative contributions to this edition of the festival.
