المملكة: International experts are searching in Riyadh for therapeutic techniques that change the future of oncology patients

Today, the opening work of the fourth conference of the Middle East Association of For Radiation Therapy and Oncology (MESTRO 2025) at Al-Faisal University in Riyadh, amidst a wide presence of the most prominent specialists and experts in oncology treatment from inside and outside the Kingdom.
Dr. Saad Al-Rashidi, Chairman of the Conference and Radiation Therapy Consultant, gave his welcome speech, stressing the importance of the conference as a platform that brings together the latest scientific findings in radiation therapy and oncology techniques, and contributes to supporting the exchange of experiences between specialists.
In his speech, the Professor emphasized Mushabab Asiri: The conference’s commitment to supporting and enhancing scientific cooperation and raising the level of training and innovation in the treatment of Oncology.
Radiotherapy developments
Professor Jean-Philippe Pinyol from France gave the keynote scientific speech, discussing recent developments in targeted radiotherapy and techniques for improving clinical outcomes.
The first day witnessed a wide series of scientific sessions that reviewed developments in radiotherapy in the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and the Emirates, while highlighting the challenges and achievements in each country.
The sessions also discussed the development of radiotherapy in a number of Arab countries through presentations from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Iraq.
The focus of artificial intelligence was prominent in the work of the first day, as the latest applications in employing artificial intelligence to support radiotherapy treatment plans and increase dosing accuracy were discussed, in addition to reviewing clinical trials on adaptive treatment, advanced imaging techniques, and specialized workshops on MR-Linac systems, Gamma Knife and FLASH techniques.
The evening sessions included treatment developments. Gynecological oncology, including updates on brachytherapy and endometrial cancer treatment, in addition to discussing the latest approaches between immunotherapy and concurrent chemotherapy, presenting clinical cases and expanded discussions about the future of stereotactic therapy and SRS/SBRT techniques.
